Voting Update from Crown Heights United
With election day quickly passing, Crown Heights United has released an update on voting in Crown Heights.
We’ve been monitoring our Poll Sites in Crown Heights and there is Baruch Hashem a huge turn out within our Anash Community. We have also seen a huge turnout in the broader Crown Heights community.
We want to thank each and everyone of you for voting and getting others to vote.
While it’s not a public record as to which party line you’re voting for, your name does become public as a voter. And Crown Heights need those numbers. Everyone is watching.
We’ve been receiving different reports and we want to address them:
- If you’re being told your name isn’t registered or inactive, it’s not a scandal.
Every few years the Board of Elections cleans out inactive registrants so if you haven’t voted for in a while, you aren’t active. You can use this link to see for yourself: Click Here
Important: That doesn’t mean you can’t vote. It means you can ask for an affidavit .
The only difference is, your ballot cannot go into the machine but it will be counted.
- If you’re being asked for ID, NYS law does not require you to show it if you used your ID with initial registration.
Important: Please ask for the poller name and Crown Heights United will look into it.
This doesn’t mean it’s a scandal, it can very well mean the poller isn’t trained.
- If you’re being told you must vote down a straight party line, this is incorrect information. You can vote for whomever you please.
Important: Please ask for the poller name and Crown Heights United will look into it.
This doesn’t mean it’s a scandal, it can very well mean the poller isn’t trained.
Thank you again for voting, and thank you for caring for your community!
