Gaboim Question Authority of Rebbe’s Holy Signature

Five years ago, CrownHeights.info reported a terrible travesty carried out by the 770 Gabboim in court, in which they claimed that the Rebbe’s holy signature was ‘illegal.’ Now they are at it again.

In a desperate attempt to prolong their inevitable eviction from 770, the Gabboim are actively enlisting the help of unassuming community members, many of whom are completely unaware of the underlying issues, and without shame they brazenly persist in challenging the Rebbe’s authority.

As previously reported by CrownHeights.info, the Gabboim have filed a lawsuit in connection with the 770 case in which a group of Anash are claiming that as congregants of 770 they are “statutory members of Agudas Chasidei Chabad.”

This claim contradicts the Restated By-Laws of Aguch which the Rebbe signed in 1990, where it clearly states that: “the Corporation shall have twenty (20) members.” None of those signed on to the lawsuit are mentioned as members of Aguch in the 1990 document signed by the Rebbe.

As a result of our previous report, several of those who were listed in the lawsuit as plaintiffs have asked to be removed from the case, some even with legal threats over the use of their name without permission.

Nevertheless, the Gabboim continue to try to pull the wool over the eyes of the public and shamelessly attempt to add new names to the lawsuit.

As more and more people are voicing their outrage at the appalling behavior of the Gabboim, the Gabboim are creatively trying to deflect the criticism by supplying all types of defenses as to how what they are now doing is not really a challenge to the Rebbe’s authority.

In actuality, their main argument in court is that “the purported 1990 by-laws were never presented to the then-membership of Agudas for approval.” In other words, they are saying that since the Rebbe signed the document without notifying the rest of Aguch, the Rebbe’s signature is irrelevant.

Although due to community pressure they later amended the language, they essentially kept the same position. In the amended papers they stated that: “absent the Rebbe’s express approval of the purported 1990 amended by-laws, those by-laws needed to have been approved by the entire membership of Aguch. However the purported 1990 by-laws were never presented to the then-membership of Agudas for approval.”

What is more of an express approval of the Rebbe than his signature on the document?

What are they trying to imply?

Does a document which the Rebbe instructed and signed need the “approval” of the “members”?

    #1, Did the Rebbe ever hold elections for Aguch? No, he did not. He decided that Aguch would have only a small select membership, and anyone who comes today to challenge that and claim that he had no right to do it is mored bemalchus, just like when the hanholoh of ULY claimed in court that the Rebbe was r”l a thief!

    To #1: would the Rebbe allow these elections to begin with? The answer is no and yes in the past the rebbe refused to come davven until his gaboyim were put back in place.

    To #4: Yes, if were talking about subject/issue ‘A’ and you bring up subject/issue ‘B’ which is irrelevant to subject ‘A’, then I have to right to state the obviousness of the irrelevancy.

    As someone who was one considered himself a meshichist (and who has since long ago repented and returned to Chabad), I know how meshichistim argue and confuse the issues. Meshichist have a way of confusing and mixing up issues, by bringing up irrelevant that issues that have nothing to do with the subject being discussed. You will find this behavior with liberals, they use this tactic as a defense for having no real argument.

    In Short, when its (really) irrelevant its irrelevant.

    BTW, Mr. Levi (comment #4) since you brought this issue up, please gve one example of when Aguch did so.

    I am just a lowly Litvak who happened to grow up in a city where the only chinuch was chabad – so that was where I was educated (more than 50 years ago). But at home we kids were always warned not to be bitten by the chabad bug. None of us were. That was before the meshichist/sane division could take place. My question: Why is it the “Rebbe’s HOLY Signature”? Would it be the Rebbe’s HOLY jacket button, the Rebbe’s HOLY fountain pen, the Rebbe’s HOLY umbrella, etc. Help me out on this one – otherwise I will conclude that there is no essential difference between meshichistim and non-m’s.
