What are You Addicted To?

One out of every ten Americans is addicted to something, and chances are that every person reading this article knows someone first hand who is struggling with some form of addiction: substance, alcohol, internet, or otherwise.

As a community we have shied away from addressing these issues partly because of Values and the argument that “these things don’t happen in Chassidic communities” and partly from shame.

Leading Rabbonim have called for the community to become informed. Its time to get educated!

What are the signs of addiction?

What are individuals, loved ones and friends supposed to do?

When is it time for a professional to step in?

The Besh”t Center will be hosting an evening of awareness and education with Gavriel Fagin, MA, LMSW who holds degrees in both Forensic Psychology and Social Work. Additionally, Gavriel holds an advanced designation as an Offender Treatment Specialist, as well as a Credentialed Alcohol ans Substance Abuse Counselor-T, with an added designation as a Problem Gambling Specialist.

He is currently the Director of Tikunim Counseling Services, PPLC. Gavriel is also an adjunct professor at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work. His clinical focus is the objective evaluation and outcome-based treatment of deviance, victimization, domestic violence, substance abuse, and problem gambling.

The Discussion will be open to Questions and answers.

To have your question addressed please email it to Info@Torahlp.com

Tuesday Night May 17 (Leil Pesach Sheni)

its true, please continue to be supportive of your family member despite the difficulty. although the situation may be tough, there is more hope for recovery if family members remain involved.

I’m addicted to these seminars which talk about volatile issues. Can’t get enough of them. They allow me to delude myself into thinking I’m actually doing something. I can avoid actually addressing underlying flaws with our society. Say L’Chaim. Zog a Kapitel Tehillim. Label creative minds at-risk, but don’t ever admit you don’t have what to answer or that there acxtually is no answrer and the questiosn are good ones.

So what time is this seminar which will tel me I’ve got a problem?
