Overzealous Traffic Cop Tickets Cars Early

This ticket states the car was parked in front of 760 Crown Street when it was in fact parked in front of 760 Montgomery Street.

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Alternate side parking has been in effect since Monday, but to little avail as massive piles of frozen snow still take up many parking spaces, and the sanitation department did nothing with the cleaning rules being in effect. This did not stop the traffic cops from issuing tens of thousands of tickets.

The most infuriating part of all this came Friday afternoon after Montgomery Street residents returned their cars after the cleaning rules ended, around 10 cars received tickets for being parked contrary to the posted rules, only 4 minutes before it ended.

“This is crazy, not only did they not clean, they issues us tickets for moving back early, at 12:26pm” grumbled one motorist.

In his haste, Mr. Shin, the traffic cop who issued the tickets, made an error on all the tickets by stating that the offending cars were parked on Crown Street, when they were really parked on Montgomery.

This ticket says it is parked in front of 783 Crown Street when it is in fact parked opposite 783 Montgomery Street.

    I had the same thing…my car was supposedly parked down by Rochester when I’ve never parked there in my life! And what’s more, the first I knew about it was when I got slapped with a massive penalty for not paying a ticket I NEVER RECEIVED!

    I’m still fighting it & it goes back to December 15th!.

    Why do you people live in such a place where you can’t park, the cops are insane and you are in a state of constant complaining?

    I got a ticket at 1:30 qm on Albany ave where it recently became a no standing street. I didn’t realize that. Police officers have nothing better to do but to look for offenders at 1:30am, not to mention it was freezing outside. Unbelievable.

    and on Crown street a few minutes before Shabbos, 3 cops ticketed at least 8 cars that were parked at a slight angle due to the snow near the curbs. there was no other way to park at that time.

    I think it was the same cop, who on Thursday, gave tickets to double parked cars on crown street, between Kingston and Albany, during the time of the street cleaning, when one should be allowed to double park on the opposite side.

IF I PARK BEFORE THE TIME IS UP FOR ALTERNATE SIDE I SIT IN MY CAR AND WAIT UNTIL THE CORRECT TIME. BECAUSE I’LL BE DARNED IF I’LL GIVE THOSE SO CALLED COPS THE SATISFACTION OF TICKETING ME.     Just got residential permit to move to the US, how much do we have to allow as our expenses for getting the parking tickets that seem to be so much of the cultural identity of Crown Heighters??

    Perhaps we will just settle somewhere else, what a shame>
