Are The Braun Documents Forged?

In letters from Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba, senior member of the Crown Heights Beis Din, to Zaki Tamir, chairman of the Vaad Hakohol, he implores him not to force Rabbi Yosef Braun upon him before some serious concerns are addressed. In his letters he clarifies why he will not be attending the Sunday installation ceremony.

There are strong allegations that the Semicha documents that R. Braun has presented are forged¸ and Rabbi Osdoba requested from the Rabbonim and from Zaki Tamir that he be allowed to see the original Semicha documents in order to authenticate them.

Rabbi Osdoba also pointed out that The Vaad Hakohol has until Rosh Chodesh Adar, according to the psak, and there is no need to rush while there are still significant issues that need to be clarified.

osdoba: and if he gives you the smicha will you be happy or continue to fight?

somehow I think it will be the latter.

    CH is a mockery

  • Seeking The truth

Whats pathetic is that Rabbi Osdoba has to ask a little kid – Zaki Tamir to behave. What Rabbi Osdoba doesnt realize is that Zaki always had one thing on his mind – Revenge for his brother in law – Shaul shimon deitch – The lioshna Rabbe who wrote the two books about the rebbe that were banned in Lubavitch. Tamir and his father have always been angry regarding this issue. CH did not properly vet tamir. Now your stuck with a lunatic.

As for all you who think Tamir is great. Take of the sunglasses and stop smoking whatever SB Drizin is feeding you all because its some pretty strong stuff.

CH is the laughing stock of the world. Pay Rosenberg some extra money and a psak comes out.

Time to recall the Vaad, why because it seems its a one man show. Where are the other voices. Are they just loosers who can’t speak up?

  • Glad to not live in CH anymore...

Rav Osdoba states “A new Rav should be embraced by the entire community.” Unfortunately, that will never happen. There will always be opposition, and it WILL be publicly known. Unfortunately, websites like these, while in some ways helpful and informative, also provide a platform for people to air their “grievances” and loshon hara. People feel comfortable saying the most disgusting, hurtful things, under the guise of anonymity that these websites provide. I would be scared to run for ANY leadership position in Crown Heights – the vultures tear every candidate apart!

  • surprised

i was surprised to see the stationary that rabbi osdoba chose to send his letter on.

  • We Were All Forced By The Faulty Ballots

It’s not just Rabbi Osdoba that they are trying to force. But the faulty structure of the balloting forced this situation on everyone. In the recent election there were three candidates, and the community was essentially forced to choose one, because they were running against each other with only one winner. The ballot should have allowed the voters to indicate yes or no three times, once for each candidate. However, the ballot forced the voters to simultaneously vote for one candidate and automatically against the two others with only check. As is well known there was a large contingent that wanted to vote against Rabbi Bogamilsky because of various issues, and those voters were thus forced to vote for another candidate, whether they liked the other candidates or not. Had the voters been able to vote “yes” or “no” for all of the candidates standing on their own merits, the vote likely would have been “no” for all of the candidates.
When we voted for Rabbi Schwei the vote was either “yes” or “no”. The majority of voters said “yes” and Rabbi Schwei won election. There were no other candidates running “against” him, and so the referendum was either for or against Rabbi Schwei standing alone. This is how the balloting should have been done.

  • This is nuts

Wow. Thanks for informing everyone HOURS BEFORE THE HACHTARA. What is the man suppose to do?

A compelling and reasonable request.Rabbi Osdoba seems to represent the community consensus , going by the(yes, unscientific) word on the street.

Rabbi Rosenberg was a huge mistake and this Vaad, particularly Zaki Tamir, was one as well.

It’s not too late, Zaki and fellow Vaad members. Do the right thing!!!

    help me out here!
when i was learning in 770, 1993-4 both rabbi’s osdaba and braun where learning upstairs in 770. They both know each other, one as a bochur the other the masgiach. I think its deeper then this, more of age and bikuious issues. In due respect the age difference is 30-40 years. Yes rabbi osdaba has more practical knowledge and bikiuos, but give rabbi braun a chance. He, rabbi braun, knows how to learn and investigate a halacha lemaysah. Is this worth the machlokos>?? rabboysa look around us, young men and women are dying due to our machlokos!!! we need peace and harmony, so our shcunah can continue, a gutten voch

  • concerend member of anash

the community should wait until all proof is positive without repoach before installation of this new rav – if he is one

  • We Need a Referendum

After they confirm whether his his newly documented credentials are valid we should have a new election where only (Rabbi?) Braun runs and the community votes “yes” or “no”. I can’t see myself ever going to a Din Torah before the Beth Din of Crown Heights if Rabbi Osdoba says one of its members is not qualified. I also can’t see myself relying on the Beth Din’s hechsher if the unqualified member is involved in giving the hechsher in a meaningful way.

  • you won or lost?

Have you ever seen a loosing party to a Din Tora be happy that he lost? This type of behaviour is typical to common people. one would hope that a prominent Rov would rise to a higher level.

Do we expect Rabbi Osdobo to be “satisfied” with a psak din that his candidate did not win???

The point is: there is absolutely no reason for us to expect or wait for Rabbi Osdobo to be satisfied. We are compelled to follow the Psak Din of the Zablo regardless of who is happy or not.

These very same arguments were raised BEFORE the psak din. The 5 distinguished Rabbonim heard the arguments and soundly REJECTED them!!!

Midechotzif Coleh Hei Sma Minah MEMZER Huh.
since zaki tamir has so much Chutzpah to think that he is above Rabbi Osdaba (that he is the rabbi of crown heights long before zaki started puting on tefilin every day and before he even bacame a shomer shabbos) we have to conclude that he is a
i did not say it the Sages from the talmud did.

  • Stand up for our community and say NO

Stand up for our community and say NO to this.
I will not go to this event unless all the rabbonim are there.

  • Who do u trust a longtime res or a newbe

I trust Rabbi Osdobo more then Zaki or Rosenberg.
He has been here before zaki was born and I feel he has out communities best interest at heart more then zaki a new comers or Rosenberg an outsider who can care less for our community.
SO I WILL NOT EXCEPT THE RULING UNLESS MY ROV DOES.

  • forgery

THIS CAN BO DONE IMMEDIATELY ONLINE IF CH.INFO WANTS TO DO IT.

Torah teaches us clearly: when your father or teacher tells you to do something against the torah – one is not alowed to listen the them (divrey harav (hashem) vedivrey hatalmid…)

  • Rabbi Mattis Kantor, Eastern Parkway, NY

    PLEASE EXPLAIN

A hachtara to a position was organized without discussing it with the sitting members first?

Signs were printed and distributed by whom? Paid for by whome? We the people?

Is it possible that measures are being taken to create a situation where a “get” will be needed, rather than a “good-riddance-sigh”?

Would you buy a used car from the people involved?

The issue still remains for chassidim seeking truth: Will we have a rov and a dayan who ignored the Rebbe’s horraa to have smicha until the Tzinner document. Forget about its forgery; forget about who lied – Tzinner or Braun; forget about the gaping hole he leaves behind in Sydney (it is probably irreparable even if he stayed.)

Remember the rebbe’s words: Go to a chassidisheh Rov with your queries (he did not say iggros). This was his public and indisputable Tzavaah. Did he mean to appoint a Rov who ignored his horaa and now wishes to take the seat closest to where the Rebbe sat?

Remember this day for its true accomplishment: Hastening to appoint a person who has not been fully approved (and cannot be in the eyes of those who will not accept a Rov who ignored the Rebbe’s Horaos).

This is so reminiscent of the posuk in Tanach (Shmuel 1 15.27) when Shmuel HaNavi turned to leave (from confronting Shaul about his Amalek error); Shaul grabbed the corner of the Navi’s garment and it tore, so Shmuel said…”

  • GET AN IKKUL NOW !!!!!

I’m not surprised Rabbi Osdoba makes these statements. We are in a very deep hole & I don’t think we’ll be able to crawl out.

  • ANONYMOUS VOTE

at this point in the game, unfortunately, the ‘will of the people’ is irrelevant. it was very relevant at the stage of the elections, if a large part of the electorate would have boycotted the elections, voted for somebody else etc. then OK.. but after the election of a president, with a clear winner at the poles, you cannot have a referendum.

  • Avi

Why all of a sudden is what rabbi osdoba says a question? Isn’t he abir sbiabirim? On who word alone pepole were beaten? And on who’s word alone pepole were excommunicated and on who the whole community said he is stronger then a nasi? Now all of a sudden you don’t like what he says he is no longer so spechial?

  • We must attend!

if we don’t attend, how can we protest?!
We must all attend and shout them down! We must stop this terrible event from taking place, because if we don’t stop it tonight, it will be a fait accompli, it will have happened and we wont be able to stop it!
Lets all attend and stop it!!!!!!!!!

I am not a huge fan of Rabbi Osdaba but in this case i must agree with him…

In the end Reb Yoel will show everyone he is right!!!

  • Message for RABBI SCHWEI

I hope that Rabbi Schwei or those who care about him read this, so that he can get this message:

What does Rabbi Shwei have to say about the letter written by the three choshuve Rabbanim in Crown Heights, especially since Rabbi Schwei is known to have tremendous respect for Rav Yoel Kahn – the pride of Lubavitch.

What does Rabbi Schwei have to say about the letter which Rabbi Osdoba wrote, in which he stated that according to the Shulchan Aruch (Choshen Mishpat, Hilchos Dayanim chapter 3;4), a Dayan cannot be forced to sit with someone who is unfit.
Why are there no comments from Rabbi Schwei – what is going on here?

If Rabbi Schwei is chas v’shalom being terrorized and controlled to the point that he cannot express what he really feels, then how can he serve as a dayan on a Beis Din?

How can Rabbi Schwei even think about going to such an event (the hachtarah) which is against the words of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, as clearly pointed out in the letter written by the three choshuve Rabbanim?

  • HaRav,

And does he has a Smichah Dayanut or shimush when he came?
I do know that he did not and even more still has not proper shimush, however I don’t passel him for that.
A dehatfech Yatfuch vekol metafayech yetufun.
Be careful that on the buggy of shame you take him, you won’t be driven.

    HaRav.

N.B. 1) Indeed, the new appointed doesn’t have the prerequisite qualifications but his ability proves that he could easily reach the needed level if he wants.
    2) The Kehilah spoke and no individual should and could restrain the will of a community.
    3) The only Marey Mekom brought( Dayanim Syman 3, Sehif 4) is not relevant at all and referred to the issue.

  • Question

I’m a little confused. According to Rabbi Rosenburg’s letter and according to the people who spoke to Rav Tzinner, Rav Tzinner said that he actually signed the Smicha, but didn’t mean for it to be Smicha because he thought that Rabbi Braun already had Smicha.

Therefore, I’m not really sure why it’s a question if Rabbi Tzinner signed or not???!!!

  • To a Rov we can be proud of , Rov Osdoba

May Hashem bless Rav Osdoba. He is the real deal who has stick with this community through everything – a phenomenal person.

  • In support of R. Osdoba

One wonders how come R. Schweii is not bothered by the issues raised by R. Osdoaba and other chasuve community members

  • street

Rabbis Osdoba is a tzaddik ,but he is a Rabbi who does not have street
If he has an accusation he cannot allow Zaki to do the achtoro
the contract is a jioke, R Braun does not need a cntract, channin will pay under the table

  • sad times

why are we allowing non lubavitchers (tamir, rosenberg, etc.) tell us what to do. you are right tamir is angry about shimon deitsch’s book that is full of apikursus. i read it and threw it in the garbage so my children will not see it. he is a new authority on lubavitch as is rosenberg and tamir.
why are we being led like sheep to get in someone who is a baal machlokes (see what he did in australia), why are we allowing someone with so much questions about him to be rav for LIFE. are we crazy and irresponsible. schewi has nothing to say and never did . he will only say the opposite of osdoba. so he doesn’t count.
oy vay. what happened to us???????????

  • leimeh getzel

everyone is saying “look at what braun did in aussie” Can someone please explain what he did so bad or is everyone stam spewing hatred. i happen to side with the right-wing on lubavitch “politics” but what’s the deal yo?

  • please EXPLAIN THIS GEMARA? SANHEDRIN 3

    I CANT UNDERSTAND R. Osdoba

i learned that a bias din must speak in one voice, one dayan is not allowed to reveal inner discussions.

CAN someone please EXPLAIN THIS GEMARA? SANHEDRIN 31A ?
“Question: What is the source that afterwards, a judge may not tell Ploni ‘I wanted to acquit you, but they outnumbered me’?

Answer: It says ”Lo Selech Rachil b’Amecha“ and ”Holech Rachil Megaleh Sod.”

Once, a matter was said in the Beis Medrash, and it became known that a certain Talmid revealed it 22 years later. R. Ami expelled him from the Beis Medrash, and announced ‘this person reveals secrets.’

Dosn’t that mean that a dayan must accept the majority rule of his fellow dayonim and not go around contradicting them?
