It’s the battle of the informal social media mediums, and with the Hachtorah looming this Sunday night the flood of information is hard to contain! Yesterday a twitter account with the name ‘Vaad Hakohol’ began circulating in the comments section of the CrownHeights.info. Just a day earlier Zaki Tamirs VoteTamir blog came back to life with announcements about the Hachtorah ceremony of Rabbi Yosef Braun, while the Vaad Twitter account promises to give up to the minute info on the Vaad.
Vaad Hakohol Twitter vs. Zaki Tamirs Blog & R. Brauns Hachtorah
Earlier today a post on the Tamir Report blog indicated that it is a fake account, and it is unauthorized. It reads:
As of yesterday, a Twitter account, claiming to represent the Vaad Hakohol, was opened. This account DOES NOT belong to the Vaad Hakohol or anyone authorized to represent us. Currently, the Vaad Hakohol does NOT use Twitter or any other social media site as a means of communicating with the public.
So who is behind the Twitter account? Yossi Hackner, one of the three elected members of the Vaad Hakohol. “Zaki has his blog, and I have my Twitter!” Hackner told CrownHeights.info.
The Twitter posts raise some serious concerns regarding the upcoming Hachtorah, implying that not all the Vaad members were a part of these decisions, and that not enough money was raised to pay Rabbis Osdoba, Schwei and Segals back-salaries let alone to pay a new Rabbi a new salary.
Yossi Moya, posting on behalf of Zaki Tamir on the blog, addresses the financial concern. He wrote:
Rumors that Braun’s salary is being guaranteed by five people are not true. Money raised for the Beis Din came from dozens of local gvirim. Furthermore, they did not contribute to a “Rabbi Braun fund.” No such fund exists. The Vaad maintains only a “Rabbonim Fund” through which all of the rabbonim are paid.
Finally, months ago a “rabbonim committee” did in fact meet with the Vaad Hakohol. However, the purpose of the meeting was primarily on fundraising on not to get commitments from the sitting members. A “follow up” meeting never happened on account of the months-long uncertainty that followed the rabbonim elections.
While Hackner asks on his Twitter:
Did Zaki Raise the money for the new roav or was he forced to except the funds??” and in another tweet “i was only told that Zaki was offered $50,000 how will that cover the past bills that we have? and to pay for the future roav??”
It seems from the blog posts and tweets that the Vaad itself is not on the same page, apparently there were never any meetings held, and decision are being made without the consent of all the Vaad members. This leaves us wondering who decided to hire Shmuel Chanin, a philanthropist and shrewd businessman, as Tamir Calls him.
The Hachtorah date was announce on the TamirWatch blog as going to take place on Sunday at 9:00pm in 770, despite the community’s questions and concerns, leaving the feeling of rushed due to pressure and only leaving pandemonium in its wake.

Crown Heights Resident
As of Sunday there will be a very clear split Crown Heights. No longer will I bring sheailos regarding tahros Hamishpacha, or kashrus for that matter to the rabbonim as I dont know who will answer my question… a proper Rov or not!
Regarding Zaki he is running a one man show he is not working with the Vaad he has alienated Hackner and bronstein deciding everything on his own.
Protest?
Any chance of a protest at Sundays disgraceful induction?

It’s up to Krinsky and Shemtov now.
They have the right to disallow this “spit in your eye” event.
Who Cares?
Let them make a ‘Hachtara’, see who shows up.
Luckily for them, they are doing it yud shvat (or perhaps not luckily – purposely) so that they will have a little less of a pathetic crowd. They should know that they will not be able to hide the fact that the ‘crowd’ to greet the rov will be made up of out-of-town bochurim.
To any bochurim, beware where you go sunday night, make sure not to unwittingly be ‘moysif chayos’.
Are there no legitimate businessman in C
Isn’t Bronstein a CPA? Are there not a dozen CPA’s in CH who work for companies such as Deloitte, or PricewaterhouseCoopers who can review the community council books?
With all due respect to Zaki does he not know that Sam Chanin is a shark, he will rip the community blind. Chanin may have run a successful business (and even that is up for debate) but what has that to do with running a non for profit and government grants?
And if he wants a businessman to do it, aren’t there any legitimate CH businessmen of good standing who can do it? What about a Barber, Simpson, Chitrick, Meir Gutnick, even Moshe Drizin?!
BigBen
Zaki, big failure, I have two words for you, and it ain’t Happy Birthday. STEP DOWN. You were not elected to be a one man King Maker.
If this goes through you bear the responsibility for the churban (ch’v) that follows.
Dr. Levi A. Reiter
IT IS FRIGHTENING TO ME THAT IN THE FACE OF VERY SERIOUS CONCERNS AND PROTESTATIONS BY THE COMMUNITY, WE,THE PEOPLE ARE IGNORED AND THE “HACHTORA” SIMPLY GOES ON.
I AM DEEPLY TROUBLED ABOUT THIS.
mendel
this is a joke. is the problem MR. Eli Cohen the vaad chairman who made him a chair of the chjcc? i think hes the problem…
I was looking forward to finally proper rabbonim. Unfortunately I dont think Rabbi Braun is a good idea too much doubt…
New Vaad Members (Unelected)
Board Members at Large
Yosef Yitschak Spalter (Unelected)
Dovid Leib Wolosow (Unelected – also Shmira Mesira/COP member).
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Rabbi Eli Cohen (Unelected -Running the show- stealing money from CHJCC).
Then there is Chanina Sperlin, the mosser we all voted out, somehow hes still there, why is that? Is he the only one that knows how to steal the grants?
So you see, who needs Hackner and Brownstein when you have so many other members of the vaad.

Zaki failed when he extended a hand to those people/Mossrim who voted against him and the community. Zaki Tamir tried to appease them before considering what the people who voted for him want.
So he took in the losers/Mossrim and left behind his true supporters.
Zaki Tamir betrayed our vote and so he continues to do so.
