Police Upset After Surveillance Video Appears on CHI
CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — This morning, at 8:00am, the victims of last weeks purse robbery received a call from the 71st Precinct, asking them to come down to the station house for a meeting. The couple met a detective at the precinct, but he was more concerned with the video appearing online than with the crime.
The victim turned to CrownHeights.info yesterday after he felt he was being brushed off by cops when he went to turn over critical evidence, which could lead to an arrest in the case, and the cops declined to take it.
When arriving at the precinct, they met with a detective, whose first question was: “Did you really come to the precinct yesterday?.” They responded to the affirmative, and described the visit. The detective went on to say, “you know [the video] is all over the internet, you put it all over the internet?” to which he answered “yes, but that was only after you didn’t take it from me first.”
The detective than asked him to describe who was it that did not take the video from him. Including her description, the time he came in, and who told him to go see that person. After all that, the detective asked if he has the video with him, and together they watched the video.
After a half hour in the precinct, the detective seemed satisfied and told him that they will be in touch.
“It’s unfortunate that we have reached a point where you need to go to CrownHeights.info in order to get the cops to do their job” said the victim, and added “thank you for all you did for us.”

it isn’t a crown heights problem, it is universal, the economics and politics of law enforcement are simple “ we stand for no-one, sometimes someone, we listen to anyone, talk to no-one, our first priority is ourselves”
So “we most of da people” rarely if ever call the cops because why call for help if they most likely want to help themselves.
Time for everyone to get cameras

I always had my suspicions about the police not standing up for our community. In the last few year Crown Heights Info only confirmed this. This recent case shows it very clear. Thank you CHI for exposing this story and many others.

If you did, in fact, have a gun, he wouldn’t have even tried it.
If a criminal knows he only faces our current “Justice” system, he will conclude he is very safe from the law abiding victims.

Similar story happened to me
My car and the car of a guest staying at our home got broken into in our driveway. One of the first things the cops had to say was that the driveway that we park our car in was not really a driveway, and that it had not been there before, and how come we park our cars there..Can you imagine? We are talking about a driveway that has been part of the house for years!!!!
We then told the cops that we had a surevilance video of the whole break-in, and the cop said that she wasn’t taking any videos from us and that maybe a detective would contact us from the precint. Never happened.
We asked them if they take fingerprints, and they said that they only take of big crimes.
Today the guy is breaking into my car,tomoroow something much bigger….Don’t they get it that they need to catch these guys while they are doing “smaller” stuff so that they don’t have to deal with them comitting something much worse inthe future.
These guys steal for a couple of bucks or less,and cause hundreds of dollars of damage, and we won’t even talk about the agmas nefesh….
Less Guns
Just don’t complain when your kids find your gun(s) and accidentally shoot themselves.
Having a gun to protect yourself from losing a material item? Not worth it. Look at how much crime is already committed with guns. You want to stoop to that level? What if your home is broken into and your gun is stolen then used to shoot someone else? I doubt you’ll feel great about that.

You are right to be concerned. All women should carry mace and call shomrim if they are alone when victims of a crime. The police are known to harrass the victim and side with the criminal if there’s no media or public presence, because they are afraid of the black people and not exactly concerned about the Jews. It’s very sad and disappointing, but they have gained this reputation for themselves by their own behavior.

Police Precinct Meeting this Thursday!!!
Police Precinct/community forum at the public school on Empire (opposite the 71st precinct) this THURSDAY. I think it’s 7:30 PM.
Webby, please confirm the time & put out a PSA so everyone will see it. We need to be seen & heard so the police take us seriously. Jews are always under-represented at these meetings so it’s not surprising we don’t get any consideration. We should politely speak out & ask relevant questions.
Please attend & let’s show the police we deserve & are entitled to full protection. If it wasn’t for Shomrim, we’d be in a much worse state.

If they won’t do it because there is corruption in the system, there is a way to take care of it to get fairness.

it’s time to do something about that darn precinct!! They did the same to me about 12 years ago, when my car got broken into, and a witness called it in while it was happening, they never showed up, and later, when I discovered that everything I owned was robbed from me by two black men and a cart, the cops wouldn’t even get out of their car to acknowledge me, told me the same cr@p they tell everyone else, and drove away! They are so corrupt, and it’s high time “we, the people,” expose them and make a change!!!

the two variables that influences a police officer’s decision to help is taxes and insurance/insurer’s
particularly in area’s where they feel the law’s they are hired to uphold aren’t respected and upheld
it is a common/universal problem and most prople don’t want to be in their shoes
a month ago i went to services in a city where there are few shuls left my bicycle outside the shul and it got stolen
call the cops, no, gotta place some faith in divine retribution

time to shine a light on “our” precinct.If they continue to show up in the media then perhaps they’ll do something with this precinct down at police plaza. Send the clip NY1, or Channel 7, or the like.

Just remember the Crown Heights riots of 1991.
Whatever happened to the 911 tapes? Oh yeah they got “accidentaly erased” So keep your video camera handy and don’t give the original to the authorities. The police are just like most everybody else, unless forced to take action they will take the easy do nothing route.

#18, using the Constitution and an inaccurate generalization about Texas is laughable. 1791 was a different time than 2010. But here’s why you’re wrong:
STATISTICALLY:
As of 2009, NY has lower rates of murder per 100,000 people than Texas.
COMMON SENSE:
If criminals knew Jews had guns, there would be more home invasions to get those guns.
People are so focused on the petty things in CH, they’re not counting their blessings on the major things that aren’t happening.
So, you lose some money, a cell phone, a hat, a bike. In the big scheme of things, that’s nothing. Look at the destruction going on in the rest of the world. What are the major weapons used? Guns.
You said “G-d forbid” — right, it’s not happening in CH so don’t increase the chances of it by bringing in guns.
