Police Stop Hatzalah from Going to Emergency

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Police officers stopped a Hatzalah ambulance from responding to an emergency last night when officers took issue with the way the volunteer’s car was parked, continuing their lack of sensitivity towards the Crown Heights Jewish community.

When Hatzalah gets called to an emergency, a first responder goes directly to the scene, while another goes to the Hatzalah garage, or to 770, to pick up an ambulance so that they can transport a patient to a hospital.

Last night a Hatzalah volunteer was harassed and delayed from responding to an emergency. The incident took place in front of 770 where the volunteer made a left turn from Kingston into the service lane in front of 770 to pick up the ambulance, officers posted on security duty stopped the volunteer, made him get back into his car and park it legally, delaying him from responding to an emergency.

The officers did not care for the EMT’s explanation and did not let him take off with the ambulance until he turned his car around.

This is not the first time Hatzalah has had issues with the police department in Crown Heights, a number of years ago a Hatzalah volunteer was pulled over for using lights and sirens in front of 770. Another time police did not allow Hatzalah to treat a victim who had passed out at Simchas Beis Hashuaiva. Police even refused medical treatment from Hatzalah when a cruiser was involved in an accident.

But this incident just tops off all the tickets Hatzalah volunteers received over the past holiday.

Does anyone EVER hear from Tamir, Hackner & Brownstein? Don’t they ever think they need to answer to the people who voted them in? Are they so damn arrogant? Ummmm…YES. Are they doing anything to stop this harassment?

We need action to protect both Hatzalah & Shomrim. How many shootings took place in the last 5 days in our neighborhood? Webby, YOU tell us, THEY certainly won’t. Nobody’s safe round here. It’s a war zone & these brave guys are in the middle of it all.

  • Not shocked anymore

If I had a say, I would not let Hatzalah respond to the 71st officers when they need them- and they do call them. It should go both ways.

  • ch resident

that is outrageous! i think we should rally outside the 71st precint about how the police cars outside the precinct are parked. there are quite a number of times that a pedestrian has a hard time walking on the sidewalk because of the dangerous and i am sure illegal way the cars are parked.

  • ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

C’V someone died from that I wonder if the police officer could be tried in their death?? WHY IS OUR NEW “IMPROVED” VA”D NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS???? HOW MUCH MORE??WHEN WILL SOMEONE STICK UP FOR OUR COMMUNITY?? I think it’s time weall took a stand and started rioting to get some attention here

  • Justice for the Shechuna

    In response to # 3

if in case it might be a hazard then can you please tell me why that waist of time police command truck sitting out side the JCM is also facing the wrong way if anything that would be a hazard because cars are actually turning in that direction as apposed to the other side where a cars coming forward on the service lane would be able to see
Let them be a good example and do what they expect of us

  • governenmetantentalmental

I forwarded this article to the mayer’s webcite and comissioner Kelly it takes a few minutes and can save a life.

  • Tripped and fell...

I think that cable coming out of that big police truck opposite the JCM is also a big pedestrian hazard.
Dont they have to tape it down, or put up a hazard sign.

  • why blame Tamir

why is every one blaming Tamir. its not his problem anymore. he gave it all over to Sperlin. he has the connection

  • make a tumul

the police will do what ever they know they can get away with. so the ,ore Tumul we make the more they will be afraid just like the blacks

  • OYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

lets keep voting in these mishugoyim politicians like Yvette Clarke, a self made soneh yirsroel. She pays ONE PERSONS salary in the community, he gets money for his pockets and thats aobut it,,,, and WE are sending the authorities a clear message,, Step on our heads,, we want you to.

  • Ditto #3

I NEVER see or hear anything that these guys are doing.
No newspaper or flyer, No website, absolutely NOTHING

At least put out a quarterly newsletter or something on the website. (I’m sure CHI would display it)

It must be that they have NO accomplishments

So much for our new improved vaad.

p.s I keep hearing about these so-called askanim, like they’re something special. Let’s be real. These guys have done nothing of actual value over the years despite all the hooplah. The proof of their uselessness is the state of our community vs. other communities.

what is causing this? there has to be a reason!
    someone open an ig k.
    this is serious.

  • WHY WE SHOULD VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!!

OUT with the SAME old same old INCUMBENTS.

    IN with the NEW.

VOTE REPUBLICAN NOW — your life may depend upon it!

(And all of you who are afraid to vote for change because you’re on public assistance: Wouldn’t you rather have a better national and local economy so that you could be employed and not need so much public assistance???? Those who are truly disabled will never lose their public assistance, so don’t worry about that, either! All the rest, for whom a decent job would make all the difference, had better vote for the party that’s pro-business: the REPUBLICAN party!)

Why do the Hatzalah tend to the Police injuries, etc. ?
    It defies logic….!
After all the abuse …!!! They are just wasting a valuable resource…!!!
Let the FDNY tend to the cops…They have shown that they don’t desrve any special treatment !!!
The cops, as ususal are playing their favorite games…
The city is in need of funds and what quicker source is there besides tickets…!!!
To a cop, a ticket shows..that you did something…instead of standing there looking like the dumb goyim that they are…!!!
Despite all the denials.. There is a certain amount of tickets that each cop is expected to produce…!!!
Pay attention — Don’t give them an excuse to write them ..!!
Let them get their income and kicks / laughs somewhere else!!

  • to the jews in crown hights

next time when we men of color .nock off a few dont come down on us .like we r animals now u know we got 2 deal with allday long . yes bad nasty cops ….peace to my jewish bros

  • This Is Crazy

These days in Crown Heights I am afraid of even walking in the street, because of all the shooting, kidnapping, police giving tickets for no reason etc. There really has to be a reason for all this,it can’t just be by coincidence. Every day i hear about more and more shootings.

The NYPD is 30,000 strong and chances are you are going to have those who dont respect or understand hatzallah, but I would imagine that more than 90% of the time hatzallah is able to on with its job without police interfernce

  • reuven

i think everyone should move out from crown heights gheto.afteer no people will have what to complain of.ild dogs. nasty and unkindly police. schvartze’s. doubleparkers. bloomberg this and that. bike lanes. street islands. guns and violence. murders. high prices. ezagui. alternate side parking. free school vouchers. ch council. the butcher or the minister. too much tension. soo many nice jewish communities elswere to raise a family. limiting urself to a gheto like wb bp or ch is not proper for ur children.
