Mendy Raitport Running for State Assembly

Crown Heightses own Mendy Raitport is running for election as Assemblyman in the 43rd District under the Republican-Conservative banner, he has all the qualifications needed to be an effective voice of the people whom he hopes to represent. He is one of us: he is a Crown Heights resident.

“Politics has become a dirty word,” Raitport says. “But it shouldn’t be. It’s about service to the community.”

This is something Raitport understands. Born, raised, and educated in Brooklyn, this 43 year-old married father of 8 grew up in a family whose name is synonymous with community service. His parents, Rabbi & Mrs. Y. Raitport, have long been active in a number of charitable organizations, and the young Menachem grew up understanding that giving back came before taking.

He is an EMT, a member of CERT, and he has long been involved in numerous charitable ventures including mentoring young people.

Menachem Raitport is a Crown Heights-based businessman. Like so many other small business owners in this designated poverty area, he finds it a daily struggle to keep his butcher shop afloat. He understands how hard it is to meet payroll, pay suppliers, and provide for his family.

Like every resident in Crown Heights, he too wonders what kind of place Crown Heights will be in the next five years. He worries about a further reduction in our standard of living, seeing essential services being eroded almost on a daily basis.

“From clean streets to safe streets,” he emphasizes, “things are getting worse, not better. Residents in Crown Heights are forgotten time and time again by Albany. It’s just not good enough. We live here, and we deserve better.”

Menachem Raitport will make the changes Crown Heights needs. He has a fresh vision of a vibrant, exciting neighborhood with improved public services, better schools and health care facilities, and excellent recreational facilities, especially for local youth.

Instead of demanding police, firefighters, and medical first responders do a better job, Raitport understands that these brave men & women are performing miracles every day in our community under difficult circumstances. As Winston Churchill said, “Give us the tools and we will finish the job.” Raitport says it is inconceivable that first responders should be understaffed and underfunded; he believes they should be better supported from Albany. He wants to give them what they need so our community is better protected.

Furthermore, Raitport will bring honesty & responsibility back to Albany. In a State reeling from scandal after scandal, Raitport’s strong commitment to family values, personal responsibility & accountability will be a welcome change from the corrupt regime currently in place.

“It’s not about Republican v. Democrat,” Raitport emphasizes. “It’s about doing what’s right for every single resident in this district. It’s time for a real change.”

    Why vote for a honest republican? I need more promises to give me food stamps. Throw a few crumbs my way, so I can have a section 8 home. Republicans only vote for less help of the needy. You are a bizness man, you do not think like President Obama. We need to take more of your meat and distribute it to the poor here in CH.

    mendy has certainly got my vote. he has helped hundreds of ppl in this community over the years that nobody has any idea about. I know cuz he has helped me out many times without ever asking me for anything in return. in terms of the elections I will vote for him not because he helped me but bc I know how much he can help this community. What has Karim Camara ever brought to this community? Nothing that I know about. Mendy lives here and that alone is enough to get my vote. Bc if he gets elected and does nothing positive he is doing a disservice to himself and family too. If Camara does nothing he could care less. Raitport has a vested interest in bringing change to crown heights. the change we need. so get out there and vote vote vote. vote like crazy for an eigene of crown heights.     Immediately after seeing this news on CH.INFO I made a call to a few friends and we decided to do what it takes to carry Mendy to victory.

    Once we get organized we will reach out to people whom want to help.

    Meanwhile as I did with my friends, get together with your friends and family and see what you can do.

Remember those in politics look at the voting numbers and decide accordingly!     I wish him every hatzlachah but I wonder why he started so late and why he’s running such a quiet campaign. Even online, I found no mention of it anywhere except on this site. There are sites offering information on both candidates and Raitport’s name is mentioned but the info is all blank.

    We have to approach this very realistically.

    I believe that the assembly seat in our neighborhood is not decided by more than 6000 votes. If we bring out our vote, we can bring to the ballot more than 7000 votes just of our own.

    There are about 3000 families in Crown Heights, if all the men and women vote, then we mobilize the boys and girls who are over 18, then we can register all the out of town students, and we can easily show 7000 votes, plus. This way we project power and all the politicians will start respecting us and responding to our needs.

    The first step is to get everyone registered. All the volunteers should call every household in CH and make sure everybody is registered, then we go to all the schools and check that all the bochrim and girls over 18 are registered, then we are on the way to victory.
