CrownHeights.info has just learned that Zalmen Wilhelm has dropped out of the race for Vaad Hakohol. This move comes as a surprise after he was reinstated, along with Shea Hecht, by the entire Bais Din headed by Rabbi Avrohom B. Rosenberg.

  • bittul torah? his choice.

it’s not bittul torah because it’s taking care of needs of shchunah. It’s only considered bittul torah if he’s taking advantage of the position to just put money in his pockets or to play around with other mishugasim. But if he’s actually helping the kehilla – that is NOT called bittul torah.
I think some mafia memebers threatened him.

  • disillusioned

He may have been harassed, but he has dignity & doesn’t respond publicly. Allow him his reasons. Personally, I think it’s a shame an honest & capable mentsch feels it’s necessary to withdraw. Look what we’re left with (apart from Shea Hecht & a couple of others.)

Nothing changes here & that’s why we are stuck in a ditch. When will my fellow CH residents understand we need new, vibrant leadership, people who DO something, who make themselves accessible, & who aren’t in it for Kovod or Cash?

  • one of the 3

    Must be from 3 reasons
1 – Family – will take away time from his family so they did not want him to run
2 – Someone had something to maser on him
3 – Work – would take away from work so his boss did not let him run

  • go zalmen!
