CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Women in Crown Heights have been the target of one really sick creepy caller posing as a woman and asking very inappropriate and intimate questions.

The caller says that its name is Chany Cohen and that she got the number from “Chaya Goldstein in Flatbush” , but the voice sounds more like a man than a woman. The caller then asks very private and personal questions under the guise of a being new Kallah that did not receive proper marital education.

“It seems like he is calling numbers from the Tzach List because a few friends of mine as well as myself got these calls,” said one of the victims of this creep. “Just don’t engage the person on the phone and hang up immediately.”

Another one of the women said that she called the police and was told that there is nothing that they can do, so she called the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council and Shormim.

“With this new thing called spoofing we are seeing a new trend of harmless phone pranks and these kinds of creeps crawling out of the woodwork” said Gadi Hershkop, a Shomrim coordinator. “Hatzalah and Shomrim have been the victims of such pranks, but this incident is taking it to a whole new level.”

    BS”D This is not called spoofing. There is nothing humorous about it. This is called an obscene call. I think that until this is taken care of, maybe women on this special list should record incoming calls. The police say they can’t do anything? They don’t care is what it is. They can do something. There shd be a way to take a number, even though it is blocked from caller ID, and still trace it with something. The cops could help with that, so that if a woman had it on her phone, they could take a look-see.

    I would check the calling records of the tznius police. It fits their profile.

    The same woman called me asking me the same things five years ago when I was engaged in Israel at my parents house. When I hung up on her she called back a second time. It was really creepy!!!

    I got this phone call yesterday and realised right away something was fishy, told the caller to call the Taharas Hamishpacha office if they wanted any information, sounded like could have been a male. Really wierd.

    I got a phone call before shabbos – I would have hung up – but I do teach Kallahs & took it as a Chabad call. When the questions started getting rediculous I opend the Jewis Press & gave her Dr. Yaels #

    I got this phone call 3 days ago and it was really weird. I knew something was wrong and hung up. I thought the voice could also have been a males!!! Never answer any ones questions!!!!!

    I got this call too, i was very concerned for this woman and kept regretting not helping her further, i finally hung up when things got more intimate. The following day i felt giulty for not helping this ‘victim’

    they called me last week too. it was pretty weird and i kept on insisting that they call a kallah org like ten yad maybe they could help. the caller kept on asking absurd questions until i was just rude and said i’m sorry i cant help you.

    OMG someone called me about kallah classes maybe 2 weeks ago, and I was wounder why they called me, cuz i am married just for less then a year, then I told her that I am gonna look for a kallah teacher phone number and she hang up on me.

    What’s going on with ppl in Crown Hights???? It’s scary to go out at night becus of the shvartzas, you can’t trust anyone on a phone etc.

    Any ideas what we can do????

    I think the phone company deals with such issues and reports it to the authorities.
