Devorah Benjamin To Be Honored By Senator Eric Adams

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Crown Heights community activist Devorah Benjamin will be among a group of women being honored this Thursday, March 26 by State Senator Eric Adams as part of Women’s History Month.

The event will be held tomorrow, Thursday March 26, at the T-Building Auditorium of Kings County Hospital, 451 Clarkson Avenue, 2nd floor (at New York Ave). The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a reception at which kosher food will be served. The awards presentation will be held at 8:00 p.m.

The honor resulted from numerous formal and informal meetings between KSCVK coordinator Shmuely Brashevitzky and Sen. Adams over the past month. “He was very impressed by the work being done,” says Brashevitzky. “He’s a people person, and he was amazed that there are people out there who help other people in need.”

Brashevitzky pointed out how, of all the Jewish organizations and women in his district, the one Jewish woman selected by Adams for the award was Benjamin. “I was very surprised to get the phone call,” said Brashevitzky. “There are so many mosdos [Adams could have otherwise chosen].”

“We ask the community to come and show its support for Keren Simchas Chosson V’kallah,” says Brashevitzky. “Please come for a few moments of your precious time to show your support to Devorah Benjamin who gives countless and endless hours of her time. It’s only a few minutes out of Crown Heights.”

Mazel Tov Devorah! May all the work that you put in be a zchus! I personally would like to thank you for helping my wedding go smoothly – quite literally! If not for Devorah than there would have been a question which day I got married, but because of her the glass was broken at exactly shekiah. Devorah, I can never thank you enough. May it be in this special merit, of helping hundreds of chassanim and kallah’s, that by this Pesach we should already be in Yerushalayim with Moshiach.
    All the best
