Hundreds at the 14th Annual Family Day Picnic!
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] -– For the first time ever, the annual 71st Precinct family day picnic saw a turnout such as there was today. Hundreds of Crown Heights residents, with the noticeable presence of the Jewish community came out to enjoy a fun day for the family.
Many more pictures in the Extended Article!
Mayor Michal Bloomberg took nearly an hour of his Sunday to spend amongst the residents and the police officers, while addressing the crowd he said “even though we have had tensions here in Crown Heights, it’s wonderful to see all both sides of the community coming together”.
Also present was Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, who spent much more time among the crowd, taking pictures with residents and local leaders.
The event began with the traditional parade made up of the Precinct Brass, the Precinct Council, Auxiliary Police, Law Enforcement Explorers, Cowboys along with a Hatzalah Ambulance and a Mitzvah Tank!
Parents with children enjoyed the mechanical and air rides along with kosher barbeques for the Jewish residents.
The Community Policing Unit of the 71st Precinct thanked the principals of all the Jewish schools for their participation in making the event as successful as it was.

the horses were beautiful – i mean it – the horses were well groomed and well mannered. and i am not being sarcastic. i am not talking about the politicians – although they were also well groomed and well mannered. but the horses were really beautiful.

It COULD have been a nice day, but a black boy (13-15 years old)smacked my 8 year old daughter’s cheek while both were waiting on line for a ride. When I confronted the group he was with, one turned sassy on me. Another non-frum mother said one from the group also hit her young daughter. When I asked a nearby police man to watch them, he barely gave a look and then walked off.

Wow, look at all the different types of Yidden. I find this so interesting, these Chassidim dress so differently. I don’t see this here where I live. Here I only see back and white.

thanks NYPD my kids had a great time.
i am sure you would like some feed back :
we jewish people only are allowed to listen to “kosher”/ hewish music.
i know it is a comunity event so at least can we have chlidren friendly music, ie no heavy metal, no hip hop etc.
thanks once again
Sara
You brought up the ‘music’…
Why was a ‘Yushka’-freak allowed to sing how great Yushka is? If this is a Community event, they should be told such ‘music’ is offensive to Jews
a person!
To:beautiful horses
What does that have to do with anything?!
But on the other hand you are rite, the horses are very nice and groomed and well fed and smiling.
If you look at the brown one it does look like hes smiling!siriously
I guess he thinking-finally I get to get out of that feakin barn and see people!
Anyways i want to end off by saying A YASHER KOACH to webby!

Horses
We have have four legged horses and two legged ones.
Our community “leaders”, who did not protest the lack of permanent protection in C.H. and are satisfied with the police throwing us a cheap candy of ‘2 or 3 weeks of a police’ “SHOW” of force and then all the police will go home – are not unlike all the rest of the four legged Horses/Ferd(ishe Kep), which the Meyer ‘smiled’ too.
