Las Vegas Mayor Lights Menorah with Young Shliach
On the 3rd day of Chanukah, Chabad of Southern Nevada led a Chanukah celebration with the recently elected Mayor of Las Vegas, Carolyn Goodman. It continued a tradition that began with her husband, former Mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman. During the celebration, the Mayor was presented with a Menorah as a Menorah of Freedom Award.
Mendy Harlig, son of the directors of Chabad of Southern Nevada, Rabbi Shea & Dina Harlig, was honored with lighting the candles. Mendy is a student at Lubavitch Mesivta in Chicago and came home during the Chanukah break to help his parents with the various Chanukah activities in Las Vegas.
A number of students from Chabad’s Desert Torah Academy, who won a school contest, were honored with participating in the program.

I’m so proud when I log on the web during Chanuka, and I see hundreds of Menora lightings all over the world in public places, affecting millions of Jews, and also, almost every prime minister, and mayor, and president, and congressman, and senator etc…. Thier all welcoming Chanad and celebrating Jewish heritage, it warms up my heart.
