Mayor Signs Proclamation Calling for Acts of Kindness

For the 29th consecutive year (since 1982), Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus and Chabad of South Broward conducted a Menorah lighting ceremony at City Hall in Hollywood, Florida. The Mayor, Mr. Peter Bober, was decked out in a hasidic black hat for the occasion.

Partcipating were a number of Shluchim, including Chazzan Yossy Lebovics who sang the Brochos and G-d Bless America. Also participating were all City Commissioners, the Vice- Mayor, members of the Hollywood Police Department and Fire Department, some students from the Chaya Aydel Seminary and various staff members from City Hall.

Rabbi Tennenhaus spoke about numerous messages contained in the lights of the Menorah, including how light removes darkness, and how one must increase in good and light every day. The Mayor issued a Proclamation, calling for 100 Days, from 20 Kislev till 11 Nissan, to Increase in Goodness and Kindness to Bring Moshiach, Now!

Rabbi Tennenhaus thanked the City of Hollywood for hosting the South Florida Chanukah Festival for the first 25 years of its existence, before it moved to Gulfstream in Hallandale Beach in 2007. The 32nd Annual South Florida Chassidic Chanukah Festival takes place this Monday, December 26, at 7 PM.
