New Shluchim To Open Chabad House In Williams College

With tremendous excitement and gratitude to Hashem and the Rebbe, Mendel and Tzivia Volovik are proud to announce that we are establishing the first Chabad at Williams College.

Williams College is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges in the United States. Its students are thoughtful, ambitious, and deeply engaged in shaping the future. They are tomorrow’s leaders in business, academia, public service, and beyond. Now, with the arrival of Mendel and Tzivia (nee Treitel) Volovik, along with their son Yosef, a vibrant and welcoming Jewish home is taking root at the heart of campus life.

College is a very important stage in a young person’s life. It is a time when they are away from home, growing in independence, and deciding what kind of Jew they want to be. For many Jewish students, it is the first time they are living on their own and taking personal responsibility for their Judaism, asking big questions and making personal choices.

As the new shluchim to Williams, we will be there every step of the way.

We open our doors for warm, uplifting Shabbat dinners that nourish both body and soul. We offer one-on-one learning, thoughtful mentorship, and meaningful conversations. We organize programs for Yomim Tovim and create opportunities for Jewish students to meet one another and build meaningful connections.

On a campus like Williams, where academic rigor meets extraordinary leadership potential, the presence of a strong Jewish community is essential. The students shaped here will go on to influence the world in profound ways. By strengthening their Jewish identity today, we are investing in a vibrant Jewish future for generations to come.

As the only Chabad serving both Williams College and the greater Williamstown area, with no other Chabad presence, we carry a unique and vital responsibility.

To launch Chabad and build a strong foundation for the years ahead, we are raising $60,000. These funds will help us create programming, host Shabbat and Yom Tov meals, provide learning opportunities, and establish a warm and welcoming Jewish home on campus.

We invite you to partner with us in this historic moment. Please consider making a generous donation at charidy.com/williamstown and help us reach our goal.

Your partnership helps us reach every Jewish student on campus and build a vibrant, proud Jewish presence at Williams. Join us in making it happen.

Thank you.
