Iran Conflict: Medical Appointments Postponed; Exit Option through Sharm

The conflict with Iran has now entered its second day. Israel remains partially shut down under the ongoing state of emergency, with various restrictions still in place throughout the country.

Chaim V’Chessed continues to be inundated with inquiries from travelers seeking to exit Israel at this time. Jordanian airspace has reopened; however, the borders between Israel and Jordan are opening only at rare intervals, and travel through Jordan is considered very difficult. At this point, the most viable route out of Israel appears to be through Egypt.

There have been limited seats available on Arkia flights departing from Taba, though these seats are extremely scarce and may already have been fully booked.

In a positive development, Emes Travel – a reputable travel agency run by Anglos and well known within the English-speaking community – is offering an organized route out via Sharm el-Sheikh airport. Their package includes transportation from Jerusalem to Taba, VIP assistance at the border crossing, transfer to Sharm el-Sheikh, and onward flights to various destinations in Europe. While Chaim V’Chessed does not endorse any specific provider, this agency is widely regarded as reputable, and this is one of the few structured options currently available. Availability is limited and expected to sell out rapidly. The agency’s package can be viewed here.

At the same time, Chaim V’Chessed continues to compile a list of foreign citizens seeking to leave Israel. The U.S. Embassy is monitoring this list.  If you are a foreign national currently in Israel and wish to be contacted should options emerge, please click this link to submit your information

Medical Appointments and Hospital Procedures

Chaim V’Chessed staff members have also been receiving around-the-clock calls from individuals with various medical needs, including appointments and procedures previously scheduled for this time.

At present, hospitals have canceled all non-life-threatening procedures and appointments. Only urgent, life-and-death emergencies are being addressed.

Mrs. Shani Wahrsager, who heads the Chaim V’Chessed Medical Department, notes that under normal circumstances, the department frequently assists in expediting urgent appointments for patients. However, at this time, with nearly all non-emergency services suspended, there is unfortunately nothing that can be advanced or arranged. At the same time, the Chaim V’Chessed hospital staff, lead by Mrs. Nechama Nulman, continues to assist patients who are hospitalized during this complex period.

We understand how stressful and frustrating this is for many patients and families. We urge everyone to remain patient and to reach out again in a few days, when – we hope – the situation will stabilize and we will once again be able to assist.

Chaim V’Chessed will continue to monitor developments closely and provide updates as new information becomes available. Follow www.chaimvchessed.com or subscribe to receive our updates.
