Presenting 32 Glimpses of Geulah, Beyond Anything You Could Have Imagined
What started as a spur-of-the-moment initiative to free the hostages – turned into an international art and writing contest on visualizing Geula.
What was planned to be a small booklet featuring selections from that contest – turned into an attractive anthology with curated selections of beautiful art, and stirring poetry and prose by deep-thinking women and girls age 7-70, from five continents.
What was going to be ready in two months took almost two years with endless delays. But look at the timing…
Incredibly, the project’s two major milestones coincided with major hostage release milestones:
On Erev Shavuos 5784, the contest winners were announced. Four hostages were rescued the next day in a daring, high risk operation.
On the 9th of Shvat, the anthology was released for sale. The last hostage was returned the 8th of Shvat and buried the 10th of Shvat.
The wink from above is unmistakable.
It’s a thank you to the anthology’s contributors – your writings and visualizations were a spiritual force! We see the impact of using the Rebbe’s key to getting out of captivity.
And it tells us that all those delays were Divinely timed – the book was clearly intended for the post-hostage era!
This is not just a study of what’s past. The hostages’ ordeals remain an icon for us: We are all captives! We cannot rest we are all liberated from our tunnel of darkness, our collective galus state. We cannot rest until everyone lives with a light and joy ‘beyond anything we could have imagined.’

The contest concept sparked during a simcha-bitachon course in ADAR at the height of the hostage crisis, fueled by the Rebbe’s premise that visualizing Geulah will make it happen.
