Chabad of Folsom Receives Green Light for Permanent Jewish Community Campus
The Jewish community of Folsom is preparing for a major milestone after city officials unanimously approved the design of a new Chabad Jewish Community Center to be built on Hana Way.
The two-story, 23,483-square-foot facility will rise on a two-acre parcel at 795 Hana Way, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac just off East Bidwell Street. For years, Chabad of Folsom has operated from a commercial storefront on South Lexington Drive. The newly approved project marks a significant step toward establishing a permanent, purpose-built campus to serve the region’s growing Jewish population.
The 17,285-square-foot ground floor will include a synagogue sanctuary, classrooms for educational programming, a spacious social hall, community gathering areas, a teen lounge, and a mikvah.
The 6,198-square-foot second floor will house administrative offices, conference rooms, and four guest suites designed to accommodate visiting rabbis, scholars, and program leaders, expanding the center’s ability to host extended learning and community events.
According to the approved plans, outdoor features will include a landscaped plaza and courtyard, a rear patio for open-air programming, and a 53-space parking lot to serve congregants and guests.
The Chabad site currently contains a 2,336-square-foot home built in 1976, along with a pool and small outbuildings — all slated for demolition to make way for the new center. The property was purchased by Chabad for $1.485 million approximately three years ago.
The Hana Way project represents a significant investment in strengthening Jewish life in Folsom and the surrounding communities. A permanent campus will allow for expanded services, increased programming capacity, and enhanced opportunities for families to connect and grow.
