Community Comes Through In Support of the The Kingsbrook Shul
by CrownHeights.info
Members of the Crown Heights Jewish community, and attendees of the Kingsbrook Shul, turned out in numbers to the Brooklyn Supreme Court Wednesday in support of the Kingsbrook Shul, as a judge weighs the future of the congregation.
Locked out of the Shul since COVID, the shuls congregation has been fighting to return for years, a fight that has become existential as the state plans to fund the demolition of the Shul and replacement with government subsidized housing.
The legal fight for the Shul continued Wednesday in the backdrop of a statement made by New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, where she claimed that she stopped the demolition, and the future of the Shul must now be decided through negotiations between the congregation and developers.
