President Herzog attends Bondi Chabad memorial service with Prime Minister Albanese of Australia

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, as part of his ongoing visit to Australia, President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese attended a memorial service for the victims of the Bondi Beach terror attack at the Chabad of Bondi Synagogue, led by Rabbi Yehoram Ulman.

Prior to the service, President Herzog, the Chairman of the World Zionist Organization, Yaakov Hagoel, and the Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Maj. Gen. (res.) Doron Almog, met with bereaved families of victims of the Bondi attack.

Following the memorial service, President Herzog joined Prime Minister Albanese for dinner at the Prime Minister’s private residence.

President Isaac Herzog said that: “This evening, we come together, under the comforting leadership of the beloved Rabbi Ulman, to grieve and to retell the 15 stories of our 15 heroes from Bondi. We pay tribute to their souls, their character and memorialize their ideals and their dreams. This is how we remember, in Sydney and in Jerusalem.”

“The terrorists sought to instill fear in the Jewish people— we will respond with renewed Jewish pride. They sought to divide people with religious hate—we will respond with solidarity between all people of moral conscience, of all faiths.”

“Prime Minister Albanese, we have known each other a long time. I thank you for being here, and for the reception your government has extended to me. You are an important world leader. We are calling out the despicable phenomenon that has had devastating ramifications, especially on the free world. Terror aims to threaten the free world, to debase its values.

“What we saw in Bondi, the blood-curdling act of blind hatred, hatred of Jews, hatred of Australian values, simply has no place in this country, or anywhere for that matter.

“I have combatted antisemitism my entire life. My experience has taught me that this battle requires broad, serious measures, and I commend the legislation and initiatives you have taken. The test will be in their full implementation and in the outcome.”
