Mendel Markel Releases “Dear Child” Album in Honor of 16th Yahrtzeit of Pesha Leah Roetter-Azoulay A”H

In honor of the 16th yahrtzeit of Pesha Leah Roetter-Azoulay a”h, which was this past Shabbos, 21 Teves, producer and singer Mendel Markel released a new album titled “Dear Child: The Poems of Pesha Leah Roetter-Azoulay a’h”.

The album is a deeply personal musical project that sets Pesha Leah’s poetry to melodies and arrangements in his signature style of cinematic pop-rock soundscapes. The poems speak directly to the inner child in each of us, as we each go through our personal struggle with vulnerability, hope, faith, and moral clarity. The music style serves not to dramatize the words, but to frame them – creating space, texture, and emotional depth while preserving their simplicity and sincerity. The result is music that feels reflective rather than performative, inviting the listener to slow down and truly hear what is being said.

Pesha Leah Roetter-Azoulay a”h, was tragically taken from the world at a young age in a car accident. Her poetry has been published on Chabad.org and TheJewishWoman.org as well as in her blog http://ashrainu.blogspot.com/ . Marking her yahrtzeit through music gives renewed voice to her words, allowing her poetry to continue resonating and offering meaning, comfort, and reflection to new listeners.

Dear Child is now available on streaming platforms and is dedicated to the memory of Pesha Leah Roetter-Azoulay a”h, honoring her legacy through words, music, and reflection.
