Brand-New Basketball Court Opened at LEC

To the thwack of a bouncing ball and the cheers of hundreds of young students, a brand-new, high-end basketball court was inaugurated at Miami’s Lubavitch Educational Center boys schools just in time for Chanukah!

No more cracked concrete and just a couple of nets—the durable polypropylene flooring with crisp white demarcations and four sturdy hoops are getting kids on the court and adding a new dimension to their gym time. “This court will help our boys come back to the classroom energized and focused, ready to dive into their learning,” says LEC Head of School Rabbi Benjy Korf

The new, bright-colored court joins the campus’s existing football and soccer fields on which hundreds of boys play during and after every school day in Miami’s year-round warm weather. Professional coaches and official leagues turn casual play into fully-engaged sports and teach hands-on lessons in teamwork, leadership, discipline, managing disappointment, and the confidence to take a shot.

The project was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of LEC parents Mr. & Mrs. Dovid and Dorit Blachman. “The goal is to give the boys something to look forward to, to give them more excitement in their learning,” says Mr. Blachman. “I know the kids were watching its progress with lots of anticipation and I am just gratified to see them enjoying it.”
