In Another Historic First, Tanya Printed in Lesotho, Africa On Chof Kislev

by CrownHeights.info

In a remarkable milestone for the worldwide Tanya printing campaign launched by the Rebbe, the African Kingdom of Lesotho has now merited its very first printed Tanya. The historic printing took place on Chof Kislev, the “auspicious day marking the “Rosh Hashana of Chassidim” and liberation of the Mitteler Rebbe, adding special significance to the achievement.

Chof Kislev also marks the day that the first printing of the Tanya took place in Slavita, Ukraine, in 1796.

The printing in the African Kingdom of Lesotho was carried out by Rabbi Mendy Druin and Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Korf, both Miami natives living in South Africa. Upon hearing that no Tanya had been printed in Lesotho, a small, landlocked country entirely surrounded by South Africa, they felt the need to rectify the situation and arrange a printing of the Tanya there.

With the Rebbe’s brochos, the pair traveled to Lesotho while visiting family in South Africa and successfully arranged for the Tanya’s printing.

The effort was made possible with the guidance and assistance of Yanky Rubin, whose extensive experience with Tanya printings worldwide proved invaluable. His support helped ensure that the project was executed smoothly and in full accordance with the established standards of the Tanya printing initiative.

The first editions of the Tanya printed in Lesotho were completed in memory of Rabbi Avrohom Korf OBM, the Head Shliach to Florida, and Mrs. Zahava Druin OBM, the grandmother of Rabbi Mendy Druin.

This latest printing continues the Rebbe’s vision of spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus across every corner of the world, bringing the teachings of the Alter Rebbe to even the most remote locations.
