Oholei Torah Hosts Bar Mitzvah Preparation Evening for Sixth Grade Parents

Oholei Torah recently held a well attended Bar Mitzvah preparation evening for parents of sixth grade talmidim, offering clear guidance and practical support as families begin planning this important milestone. Rabbi Eli Simpson, menahel of grades six and seven, presented the session and walked parents through the key steps for the coming year, including learning goals and practical guidance that help talmidim enter their Bar Mitzvah year with confidence.

Rabbi Simpson reviewed the central areas of preparation highlighted in the Oholei Torah Bar Mitzvah Parent Handbook such as learning the halachos of tefillin, planning for hanachas tefillin, setting priorities in limudim including maamar, pilpul, and siyum Mishnayos, and establishing healthy expectations for both boys and parents. He also offered recommendations for event planning that preserve a chassidishe atmosphere, underscoring the strong partnership needed between home and Yeshiva throughout the year.

Parents who attended were entered into a raffle for three prizes: a hat sponsored by Bellisimo, a full set of leather tefillin bags sponsored by Prestige Embroidery, and seventy five bentchers sponsored by Vaad Printing. Oholei Torah extends warm appreciation to these partners for their generosity.

The evening provided parents with a clear roadmap, practical reassurance, and renewed excitement as they guide their sons toward this meaningful stage with joy and maturity.
