BDE: Mrs. Tema Gurary, 96, OBM
With great sadness we report the passing of Mrs. Tema Gurary OBM, a Crown Heights resident and matriarch of a large Lubavitch family. She passed away on Wednesday the 28th of Cheshvan, 5786.
She was 96 years old.
Born in 1929 to Rabbi Chaim Eliezer and Mrs. Leah Karasik, Tema spent her early years in the Soviet Union. After moving to Eretz Yisroel with her parents, she settled in Tel Aviv.
In a Shidduch arranged with the blessing of the Friediker Rebbe, Tema married Rabbi Nosson Gurary in Eretz Yisroel. Later the couple moved to Crown Heights
Later, at under instruction of the Rebbe, she founded the “Di Yiddishe Heim” magazine, created for Chabad women and girls around the world.
She is survived by her children; Rabbi Eliyahu Yochanan Gurary (Cholon, EY), Rabbi Yossi Gurary (Crown Heights), Rabbi Motty Gurary (Crown Heights), and Mrs. Sarah Labkowski (Crown Heights).
She was predeceased by her husband, Rabbi Nosson Gurary, in 2005.
