BDE: Mrs. Chaya Sarah Even-Israel Steinzaltz, 82, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Mrs. Chaya Sarah Even-Israel Steinzaltz OBM, the widow of Rabbi Adin Even-Israel Steinzaltz.

She was 82 years old.

Mrs. Chaya Sarah Even-Israel Steinzaltz was the daughter of Rabbi Chaim Hillel and Risha Azimov, prominent members of the French Jewish community who later created a strong bond with the Rebbe.

In 1965, she married Rabbi Steinzaltz and stood by his side throughout his numerous religious, educational, and public endeavors over decades of Torah leadership.

She is survived by her children; Rabbi Menachem Yaakov Tzvi Even-Israel, Rabbi Avraham Moshe Chaim Hillel Even-Israel, and Esther Sheleg.

She is also survived by her siblings; Rabbi Moshe Nissan Azimov (Yerushalayim, EY), Mrs. Raizel Raskin (Morocco), Mrs. Esther Hadassah Matusof (Toulouse, France), Mrs. Devorah Markowitz (Sydney, Australia), and Mrs. Shterna Shanowitz (Los Angeles, CA).

She was predeceased by her brother, Rabbi Shmuel Azimov of France in 2015.

Her Levaya will take place today, Sunday, 5:00pm, at the Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem with Kevurah at Har Hazeisim, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
