Rabbi Michel Vishedsky A”H – Through The Lens of JEM

On the first night of Rosh Hashanah, Rabbi Yechiel Michel Vishedsky, a devoted Chossid and Mashpia from Kfar Chabad, passed away at the age of 84.

Born in 5701 (1941), he grew up under harsh Soviet rule, helping preserve Yiddishkeit and Chassidus despite years of persecution and his father’s exile to Kazakhstan. In 5726 (1965), with the Rebbe’s bracha, the family finally reached Eretz Yisroel, settling in Kfar Chabad.

Rabbi Vishedsky learned in Tomchei Tmimim, later studied in 770, and with his wife Feiga Rochel built a large, vibrant Chabad family. Known for his heartfelt storytelling and living example of a true Chossid, he inspired countless people with memories of mesiras nefesh in Russia and a lifetime of avodas Hashem.

JEM was privileged to interview Rabbi Vishedsky and his brother about their childhood behind the Iron Curtain and their longing to see the Rebbe.

יהי זכרו ברוך — May his memory be a blessing.
