Rabbi Zev Katz’s English Chazarah of the Rebbe’s Farbrengens Now Streaming
In the early 1980s, many English-speaking Anash and Bochurim longed for a way to fully grasp the Rebbe’s words at the Shabbos farbrengens. To answer this need, Rabbi Zev Katz – longtime Gabbai of 770 – drew a crowd of a hundred people every Motzei Shabbos, where he delivered a clear and heartfelt summary of that day’s farbrengen in English.
These reviews were recorded on tape and soon spread far beyond Crown Heights, reaching listeners worldwide who awaited them eagerly as their connection to the Rebbe’s talks.
In Shevat 5743 (1983), Rabbi Katz mentioned this initiative in a letter to the Rebbe, writing: “I hope this causes the Rebbe nachas ruach.” The Rebbe responded by adding the word “Rav”—indicating that it brought him great nachas ruach.
Over forty years later, these treasured English chazaros are being brought back in a modern format. Now streaming online, they offer a new generation the chance to hear Rabbi Katz’s clear and heartfelt summaries of the Rebbe’s farbrengens.
