Lubavitch yeshivos are known worldwide for their excellence in Torah and Chassidus, inspiring talmidim with deep learning and fiery dedication. Yet, Torah is not only what a talmid knows — it is how he lives. Respect, humility, patience, and kindness are the living expression of Torah and Chassidus.
The Rebbe emphasized this truth when he taught: “If You Want to Love Hashem, You Need to Love People.” (Basi L’Gani, 5711). Character is not an “extra” — it is an essential foundation. Strengthening middos in a practical and structured way is the natural next step for our chinuch today.
What Middah Master Offers
Developed by Rabbi Yossi Shain, who has been deeply involved in Chinuch for nearly twenty years, the Middah Master curriculum provides teachers with a practical tool to guide talmidim in building refined middos. Designed with the help of modern tools to serve timeless goals, each lesson includes:
– One middah as the focus (e.g. respect, humility, generosity, patience).
– Two case stories that present relatable, real-life scenarios.
– Multiple options for response, often with more than one “good” answer, teaching sensitivity to nuance.
– Class discussion prompts that help students talk through the story, compare the options, and apply the middah in real-life situations.
Additional lessons and versions are already in development to expand the curriculum. Together, these tools give teachers a practical way to guide talmidim in living the values they learn — and that is where Middah Master connects to the larger goal: preparing talmidim to live Torah and Chassidus through their middos.
