New Chabad Center To Create Roots In Winter Garden, Florida

One of Florida’s fastest-growing cities, has experienced a recent boom in residents and businesses — and is now also home to a Chabad of its own.

We visited periodically over the past two years, hosting Chanukah and Purim events and distributing matzah to local Jews before Passover,” said Rabbi Mendy Konikov, who moved to Winter Garden a month ago with his wife Sheina and their son to establish the new center. “Now, we’re here — and we’re getting ready for the High Holiday season.”

After meeting local families and getting a sense of the community, Rabbi Konikov began laying the groundwork for regular programs. “We just launched a Hebrew school, and we’re planning holiday events, women’s gatherings, and Torah classes,” he said. “Our goal is to create a warm, welcoming environment where everyone can feel connected to Jewish life.”

Winter Garden is home to a diverse Jewish population, made up of Americans, Israelis, and Brazilians. Rabbi Konikov estimates there are over 600 Jewish families living there. “We’re just getting started,” he said, “but the interest and enthusiasm from the local community has been very encouraging.”

As Chabad’s programs and events begin, Winter Garden’s Jews now have a place to gather, celebrate, and grow together.
