BDE: Aharon HaKohen Blesofsky, 74, OBM
With deep sadness we report the passing of Aharon HaKohen Blesofsky, OBM, a longtime beloved resident of Crown Heights. Known for his vibrant personality, sense of humor, and above all his deep dedication to Chabad niggunim, he brought joy and inspiration to all who knew him.
He was 74 years old.
From a young age, he was a familiar presence in 770, assisting his father, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Blesofsky, who served as the gabbai. He played a role in the early construction of 770 during the 1960s and was deeply involved in the vibrant life of the upstairs zal, often leading the niggunim together with Rabbi Yoel Kahan. He also composed the niggun Ohev Hashem, on Kapitel Pey Zayin, in honor of the Rebbe’s 86th birthday, Yud Aleph Nissan.
He is survived by his children: Rabbi Avremel Blesofsky of Scotch Plains, New Jersey; Rabbi Levi Blesofsky of Yorba Linda, California; Chanie Kravitz of Hollywood, Florida; Shmully Blesofsky of Crown Heights, Brooklyn; Rabbi Mendy Blesofsky of Crown Heights, Brooklyn; Zeldy Blesofsky of Crown Heights, Brooklyn; and Boruch Sholom Blesofsky of Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
The Levaya will take place Sunday, passing by 770 Eastern parkway at approximately 12:00pm, and Kevurah at Montefiore Cemetery at 1:00pm.
Shiva information to be announced.
