Camp Gan Yisroel UK Concludes Record Breaking Summer
This year’s Camp Gan Yisroel UK (CGI UK) wrapped up what many are calling its most successful summer ever, drawing over 150 campers and staff from across the UK, Europe, the U.S., and even as far as Australia.
From the very start, the boys were immersed in a vibrant Chassidisher atmosphere, combining inspiring Torah learning with an action-packed program. The camp was directed by Rabbi Shmuli Brown and Menahel Ruchni Rabbi Folly Dubov, whose leadership ensured a summer of both spiritual growth and exciting adventure.
The campgrounds, nestled in Surrey’s picturesque countryside, set the stage for a camp filled with energy, friendship, transformation and unforgettable memories. Head Counselors Mendel Zaltzman and Nosson Potash, alongside Masmidim Division Heads Mendel Cunin and Shloimy Shtern, led a devoted team of staff who worked tirelessly to make every camper feel at home.
Each day was a balance of Ruchniyus and Gashmiyus. Campers spent time learning Mishnayos, Tanya, Maamorim and more, while also taking on personal hachlotas. The Masmidim division went on Mivtzoim to the local village and found a bunch of Yidden, put Tefillin on with them etc. They also held a grand raffle for a trip to spend Tishrei by the Rebbe, a program that continues to inspire many campers even after the summer. Already, a large group is planning to join CGI UK’s annual “Tishrei by the Rebbe” trip, led by Masmidim staff members Efraim Kantor, Shloimy Shtern, and Mashpia Mendel Weinbaum, who instilled so much Chassidishkeit into camp this year.
There was such a ‘Shturem’ throughout camp, whether during davening and bentching, the entire camp singing together with arms around each other at Shabbos meals or through the heartfelt stories and farbrengens that filled the evenings. These moments gave the boys not only joy but also a sense of belonging and inspiration to take home.
At the same time, the excitement of camp life never slowed down. Campers enjoyed two major trips to mega theme parks, where roller coasters and thrill rides had everyone feeling exhilarated. They conquered a high ropes course, bounced and splashed at an aqua park, raced around go-karting tracks, and cooled off with water sports. Sports activities kept the boys active, while evenings with BBQs, bonfires, and midnight runaways under the stars, gave the children unforgettable experiences. And of course, the highlight of the season, the much-anticipated color war, filled the camp with so much Chayos.
Behind the scenes, a hardworking team kept camp running seamlessly. The kitchen staff, under Rabbi Yechiel Wilhelm and his wife Sara, served nutritious and delicious gourmet meals. Logistics and operations were expertly managed by Tzivia Brown together with General Managers Davidi Ben Yoav and Meir Simon, ensuring that every detail was taken care of.
The summer concluded with a grand banquet, prize giving and emotional farewells with the traditional singing of “Goodbye Gan Yisroel” and other Gan Yisroel soul stirring songs. Yet, the connection between CGI UK and its campers continues year round, with programs designed to maintain inspiration until next summer.
Parents expressed overwhelming gratitude, noting the profound growth they saw in their children and the genuine care for their children. Many have already asked about registration for next year, eager to secure their spots a year in advance, a true testament to the powerful impact CGI UK has on campers and families alike.
