This Motzoei Shabbos: Chof Av Melave Malka
Preparations are underway for the annual event that the Rebbe encouraged Chassidim to attend in honor of Chof Av, the yartzeit of his father, Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, OBM.
The Melave Malka of the Global Yarchei Kallah will take place this Motzoei Shabbos, Parshas Eikev, at 10:30 PM at Camp Gan Israel, 487 Parksville Rd, Parksville, NY 12768.
The program has traditionally featured speakers who knew, or had a direct connection with, Harav Levi Yitzchok—the gaon and mekubal renowned for his self-sacrifice under the Communist regime.
His teachings and leadership as Chief Rabbi of Yekatrinoslav (today known as Dnepropetrovsk) left a profound and lasting impact on his generation and beyond.
After being exiled to a remote town in Kazakhstan, Harav Levi Yitzchok passed away in Almaty on the 20th of Av, 5704 (1944). The Rebbe personally honored his father’s memory by teaching his Kabbalistic insights.
One of the key events established in his honor is the Global Yarchei Kallah, founded by Shliach Rabbi Avraham Shemtov in 5734 (1974). The Rebbe viewed this Torah gathering as a tribute to his esteemed father’s legacy and encouraged Chassidim to participate.
This year’s Melave Malka of the Yarchei Kallah will feature remarks in English and Yiddish by Rabbi Ezra Schochet, Rosh Yeshivas Ohr Elchanan Chabad in Los Angeles, California; Rabbi Efraim Demichovsky, one of the Rebbe’s choizrim; and Rabbi Yossi Garelik, Rov of Congregation Anshei Lubavitch in Crown Heights.
Attendees will receive as a teshura the new English edition of Gems of Likkutei Levi Yitzchok published by Chayeinu, as well as a special edition of Mimeged Yerachim containing shiurim delivered at the Yarchei Kallah.
