Second Session Kicks Off at Camp L’man Achai with Inspiration and Adventure
As the second session of Camp L’man Achai gets underway, the energy on campus is electrifying. After an action-packed first half of the summer, campers—both returning and new—are diving into a full schedule of fun, growth, and Yiddishkeit in the heart of the Catskills.
The final days of the first session were nothing short of incredible. Campers returned from an exhilarating trip to Six Flags, and just two days later, the entire camp embarked on an overnight deep in the camp’s own 163-acre wilderness. With firewood collecting, tent setup, barbecues, spirited singing, and farbrengens under the stars, it was a night full of chayus and inspiration. Campers made heartfelt hachlatos and strengthened their bonds with both their peers and their counselors.
Friday morning brought a special challah-baking activity, setting the tone for a Shabbos that was, once again, unforgettable. Campers sang songs, shared divrei Torah, and participated in late-night farbrengens that filled the air with warmth and meaning.
As Shiva Asar B’Tammuz approached, campers shifted to quieter, creative activities like wallet-making using leather scraps donated by Prestige Embroidery—turning a solemn day into one filled with hands-on purpose and connection.
Monday saw the culmination of the camp’s intense league competitions. After weeks of teamwork and competition, playoffs crowned the session’s champions. By Tuesday, goodbyes were in full swing as the first session came to a close. Some campers, experiencing Torah and mitzvos for the first time, left forever changed. Emotional scenes unfolded as boys who had just learned to put on tefillin helped their fathers do the same at pickup—visual proof of the lasting impact of a summer at L’man Achai.
But there was little time to pause—the second session was already in motion.
New campers arrived and immediately jumped into the full L’man Achai experience. The teen division ventured out for a hike through the stunning Upper Catskills, soaking in nature’s beauty and bonding along the trail. Meanwhile, younger campers enjoyed an energetic game of Capture the Flag in the woods.
Thursday brought an all-out camp carnival with exciting stations for every division, followed by bunk-wide barbecues, bonfires, marshmallow roasting, and more farbrengens that lit up the night.
On Friday, campers once again baked challah in honor of Shabbos, and the BMD division took a special trip to a nearby farm to pick fresh blueberries.
Shabbos at L’man Achai continues to be the spiritual heartbeat of the week—filled with davening, singing, connection, and joy.
Now, with the second session in full swing, Camp L’man Achai is buzzing with excitement, unity, and purpose. With many more adventures ahead, the campers are embracing every moment in a summer that promises inspiration and transformation at every turn.
