by Yossi Weinstein
Registration is now open for the Chabad on Call Kinus, scheduled for August 5 and 6 in South Florida. Hosted by Healing Hearts, the two-day conference is designed for shluchim and shluchos engaged in hospital-based shlichus.
The Kinus will offer a comprehensive lineup of sessions addressing the practical, halachic, and emotional dimensions of hospital shlichus. Topics include volunteer network building, creating and sustaining hospitality suites.
The Kinus will also provide focused sessions on building strong relationships with the medical community, including doctors, nurses, and hospital administration, to help foster effective collaboration and support.
“This Kinus reflects the Rebbe’s vision that no Jew should ever feel alone, particularly in moments of vulnerability,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302. “The Rebbe’s Shluchim, especially those who serve in hospitals, carry that message into action. They are the global Jewish support system, and this conference is designed to empower and support them.”
The Kinus will create the opportunity for informal engagement where shluchim can pool ideas and draw strength for their work.
“There is so much to gain when shluchim come together, share ideas, and support one another,” said Rabbi Moshe Levertov, who, together with his wife Sashi, directs the Jewish Care Network in Phoenix, AZ. “This Kinus has the potential to be a real turning point.”
In addition to lectures and panels, the Kinus includes guided walkthroughs of Healing Hearts’ fully operational volunteer kitchen, kosher room setups, and hospitality suites, giving attendees a real-world model they can adapt to their own communities
“This Kinus will truly be one of a kind, bringing together shluchim who serve in hospitals,” said Rabbi Shimon Partouche, Director of Chabad Care in Montreal. “It will offer participants a rare opportunity to learn from real-world experience and bring those insights back to their communities.”
Sessions will also focus on Bikur Cholim best practices, how to provide comfort and care to patients and families, while also addressing how Shluchim can sustain themselves emotionally in the face of this demanding work.
“Shlichus in hospitals demands sensitivity, stamina, and structure,” said Chani Goldberg, Director of Chabad on Call at Merkos 302. “This gathering is about equipping shluchim with the resources, insight, and peer network they need to succeed and stay strong in the process.”
Registration for the Chabad on Call Kinus is $125 per person or $149 per couple. The fee includes access to all sessions, materials, and catered meals.
