Arson Attack Guts Shluchim’s Home In France, Miraculously No One Was Home

by CrownHeights.info

A targeted arson attack tore through the home of Rabbi and Mrs. Lahiani, the Shluchim to Grenoble, France this past Shabbos. Miraculously, the entire family had left early for Shul and were not home.

Over 70 firefighters were mobilized to contain the blaze, according to a letter from the family, which caused extensive damage. “Everything was lost in the flames: clothing, beds, tables, chairs, valuable appliances and electronics (refrigerator, washing machine…), entire bookcases filled with Torah books collected over more than 40 years…as well as family heirlooms and precious jewelry.”

The attack on their home is being investigated by authorities as intentional, with accelerants allegedly found having been spread to every exit of the home.

Rabbi Lahiani, his wife, and their son Maimon—who has a disability—are now left without a home, as it has become completely uninhabitable.

As Shluchim in Grenoble for over 40 years, they have tirelessly dedicated themselves to the local community and warmly welcomed countless holidaymakers each year to the nearby resorts.

With a family member who has special needs, the search for suitable and accessible housing is particularly urgent.

A fundraising campaign has been launched to help them get through this difficult time and to ensure they can be rehoused with dignity, as they deserve.

A French tax-deductible receipt (CERFA) can be sent by email.

Horrific, a big miracle that they had left only a short time before. Very dangerous circumstance. I could not successfully put through a donation. Something if off with the site.
