Meet Benny Rosenberger, Lubavitcher Running For City Council District 35
You’ve seen his flowing beard, but I’ll bet you never know much about him; Meet Benny Rosenberger.
Benny, a proud Crown Heights Lubavitcher, is running for City Council District 35 (including Crown Heights) on the Conservative Ticket.
A dedicated community member and lifelong resident of Crown Heights, Benny has been involved in community affairs for over a decade, first on the neighborhood advisory board, and for the past few years as a member of community board 9.
Benny successfully stopped plans to put a protected bike lane on Kingston Ave and Brooklyn Ave. In his current position, Benny is fighting to claw back plans to create a massive homeless shelter and psychiatric housing smack in between the anash communities of Crown Heights and East Flatbush.
Benny is also a member of the Brooklyn Tea Party, involved in the Republican party, but its not his party affiliations that matter, rather his platform, one that we can all get behind:
* To ensure safe streets,
* To stop developments which will impact the current quality of life for district residence and property owners,
* To raise the quality and value of education, both public and private,
* To put an end to the war on car ownership,
* To fight for the inalienable rights of all residents in his district and the city, to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
Benny is seeking to make history as the first Lubavitcher elected in this district this coming November. It may be a long shot, considering historical voting patterns, but the only race you’re guaranteed to lose, is the one you’re not in.
For now we need your help to build Benny’s campaign so we can get the word out to all of Crown Heights and the rest of the district, that we have a better choice!
With the matching funds program, the city will add 8 dollars to every dollar raised for this campaign (once a minimum of $5,000 is raised) so your $10 donation could actually be $90, a huge bang for your buck!
Considering some of the candidates running for Mayor, we need more than ever people who we can rely on to have our safety and security as their first priority. We need Benny!

Feb’25: CB 9 Member Benny Rosenberger swooped in to save the day at CB 9 & prevented the NYC DOT from getting the OK to create “protected bike lanes”.
Benny made an amended motion to remove the protected bike lanes and replace them with shared bike lanes. Without the amendment, CB9 would have voted for dangerous bike lanes between the curb & parked cars.

June’24 – CB 9 Member Benny Rosenberger voted to OPPOSE City of Yes Upzoning.
https://www.nyc.gov/assets/brooklyncb9/downloads/pdf/2024/General_Board_Meeting_Minutes_June2024.pdf – See #9 (c, d, a)
All of CB 9 voted AGAINST City of Yes, except a few board members who abstained, which prevented unanimous opposition to the pro-development proposals.
Benny stood up for you, while others did not.
