Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida Welcomes New Israeli Shluchim in Honor of Gimmel Tamuz
In a moment of spiritual significance and community growth, Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida, under the leadership of Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz and Shani Silver, is proud to announce the arrival of a young Israeli couple, Rabbi Shalom and Devorie Katz, along with their 1.5-year-old daughter, Sheina, as new emissaries (shluchim) to serve the region’s thriving Israeli and Jewish population.
The announcement coincides with Gimmel Tamuz, the 31st yahrzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of blessed memory, a day observed by millions around the world to honor the Rebbe’s lasting legacy of outreach, education, and community building.
“In light of the ongoing war in Israel, this is not just a moment of celebration but of purpose,” said Rabbi Minkowicz. “Now more than ever, our Israeli brothers and sisters abroad need a strong, connected Jewish community. The arrival of the Katz family reflects the Rebbe’s call to reach every Jew with warmth, care, and love.”
The Katz family’s arrival represents a significant expansion of Chabad’s activities across Southwest Florida, with a focus on creating tailored programs, events, and support systems for the growing Israeli population in the area.
A community welcome event will take place on:
Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 5:30 PM
The Katz Residence
8905 College Pointe Court #100, Fort Myers, FL 33919
Community members are invited to attend, meet the Katz family, offer blessings, raise a L’Chayim, and join in strengthening Jewish life in Southwest Florida.
“As we honor the Rebbe’s yahrzeit and embrace new emissaries dedicated to his vision, we are reminded that every step forward is a step toward greater light and unity,” said Shani Silver.
