Chabad of Chestnut Hill Receives Special Permit To Build New Center
by CrownHeights.info
It is great news a long time in the making.
“We’re overjoyed to share that we’ve officially received the Special Permit to build the Chabad at Chestnut Hill – Center for Jewish Life,” Rabbi Mendy Uminer of Chabad of Chestnut Hill wrote on social media. “After a long journey, the Land Court has annulled the prior zoning denial, and the Town has agreed that our path to build is protected by law. It’s real. It’s happening.”
Chabad of Chestnut Hill, located in Chestnut Hill, MA, is co-directed by Rabbi Mendy and Grunie Uminer, and has become a popular center for Jews of all backgrounds who want to learn more about their Jewish roots.
After a protracted process and legal battle lasting more than a year, the Uminer’s finally have the permits to build, and it is going to be more than a building.
“It’s a sacred home for G‑d, for Jewish life, for celebration, connection, and community,” they wrote. “A place for everything Jewish. A place everyone can call home.”
At present, plans are in place for a groundbreaking this September.
Chabad of Chestnut Hill was represented legally by Attorney Jeffrey Allen, whose tireless work allowed this building to happen.
