Thursday: Fifth Annual Fundraising Seminar To Empower Newer Shluchim

by Yossi Weinstein

New Shluchim eager to begin their Shlichus will gather in Crown Heights this Thursday, June 26, 2025 (30 Sivan, 5785) for the fifth annual fundraising seminar, hosted by Merkos 302’s New Shliach Desk. This full-day immersive training is designed to provide the tools, confidence, and direction needed to approach fundraising with purpose as they start building their communities.

Since its inception, the program has helped over 120 new Shluchim navigate the often unfamiliar world of fundraising, offering a supportive framework at a pivotal time in their Shlichus. This year’s seminar is geared specifically for Shluchim who have been out for less than seven years.

“The Rebbe taught that fundraising isn’t a transaction; it’s a partnership, where the giver walks away feeling the zchus of real involvement in the mission,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302. ““When a baalebos knows he helped create a community, that’s not just supporting the Shlichus: it is the Shlichus.”

The day-long seminar will be led by Rabbi Elazar Green, Shliach and founder of Grow Gelt Solutions. Through interactive sessions, group learning, and practical exercises, Rabbi Green introduces participants to effective fundraising strategies rooted in the Rebbe’s teachings and tailored for real-world application.

“Fundraising is more than asking for money, it’s about building relationships with people who want to be part of something meaningful,” said Rabbi Elazar Green. “This seminar is designed to give Shluchim the tools and mindset to do just that, with confidence and authenticity.”

The program walks participants through a step-by-step process of building donor relationships, from identifying potential supporters and cultivating trust to making meaningful asks and creating long-term engagement. It also addresses common challenges like rejection, time management, and donor retention.

Following the in-person event, participants continue their learning with a ten-week series of virtual classes, covering essential topics such as budgeting, donor communication, recurring giving platforms, and navigating complex donor interactions. A WhatsApp group also provides daily guidance and peer collaboration.

The seminar fee is $549 and includes breakfast, lunch, the full-day training, all follow-up sessions, and access to the support group.
