Chabad Centers In Sri Lanka Get Round The Clock Security After Threat Assessment

by CrownHeights.info

Chabad centers in Sri Lanka are now under 24/7 security by the police after a threat assessment by the government, according to reports. The announcement followed a silent protest outside a Chabad House in Colombo on Monday evening, during which a small group of demonstrators was dispersed by Police.

Protesters have made calls on the Sri Lankan government to take action against Israeli nationals allegedly overstaying visas and engaging in unauthorized business activities in tourist areas, claiming such actions were negatively impacting local communities.

A recent raid by Sri Lankan authorities rounded up multiple Rabbis from Israel involved in Kosher Shchita whom the authorities claim were not authorized to do business, as they were in the country on tourist visas.
