Famed Chitrik Seminary Faces Internal Feud, Call Made To Stop Tuition Payments
by CrownHeights.info
An internal feud between the present Seminary administration and Mr. and Mrs. Chitrik has led to calls for parents to stop paying tuition, according to a recent email sent to the parents. The feud, building for many years, has bubbled over after members of the Kaplan Family were allegedly dismissed from the school faculty.
Read the text of the email below:
Dear parents,
Several decades ago the Rebbe’s hand picked Shliach to Tzfat, Rabbi Laibel Kaplan, our brother in law, tragically passed away. At the time Merkos and Aguch established that his family continues his work in the same capacity under the same title.
Unfortunately, some menahalim of the institutions have rejected this ruling, resulting in unfortunate circumstances including the one which brings us to this email. Nevertheless we did not let this issue interrupt the seminary and our Shlichus.
Recently, several Kaplan family members who are valued teachers have been dismissed from the seminary for reasons that are politically motivated and have nothing to do with the seminary.
Given these developments, we cannot continue operating under the current circumstances. We are working to resolve this matter with the administration.
We advise parents to halt tuition payments until this situation is clarified.
If these issues cannot be resolved, we may need to relocate the seminary to operate under new גשמיות administration.
We understand the uncertainty this may cause you to feel, but rest assured we are doing everything in our power to bring this to a quick and reasonable resolution. We will keep you informed when there is what to know.
There will be seminary. It just remains a question of logistics.
We expect to provide further updates within the coming days.

Respectfully,
Rabbi and Mrs. Chitrik

I would assume that an employee sending out such an email to parents without the authorization of employer is likely a risky move that can lead to a liability claim.
I do appreciate your websites approach to this issue, as others have claimed this is a “Meshichist” vs “anti” which is so old school and uncool.
Cheers

I also noticed that, and I totally agree with you. Baruch hashem this website is not trying to bring back old time politics, and for that they get alot of credit.

Lubavitch has a penchant for airing their dirty laundry in public. Publicizing makloikas is a disgrace! Nobody had to know about this except the parents of the incoming class.
