Fire Breaks Out at Greenvale Shul, Torah Scroll Miraculously Rescued by Jewish Firefighter

At approximately 7:00 AM this morning, a fire broke out at the Laffey Real Estate Group office located at 55 Northern Blvd in Greenvale, NY. Occupying the downstairs space in the same building was a Chabad Shul which was impacted by the blaze.

As news of the fire spread, members of the local Jewish community quickly gathered outside the synagogue, visibly distraught and united in prayer. Their primary concern was the safety of the synagogue’s sacred Sefer Torah scrolls – the holiest objects in the Jewish faith.

Despite the intensity of the fire, brave firefighters worked tirelessly to gain control. In a moving moment that brought tears to the eyes of onlookers, a Jewish firefighter emerged from the building carrying the Torah scroll, unharmed. His successful retrieval of the scroll was met with relief, emotion, and spiritual gratitude from the community.

“The Torah is more than a book — it is our heart and soul,” said Yuriy Davidov one member of the congregation. “Seeing it carried out safely felt like a miracle. We are deeply thankful to the firefighters and to Hashem for giving us this moment.” Said Igor Shamalov

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and there are no reported injuries at this time. The Shul has pledged to rebuild and continue serving the community as a beacon of light and faith.
