Strengthening Chinuch at its Core: Registration Opens for NEW Summer Kollel for Mechanchim
Over the past several years, mechanchim around the world have expressed a desire for more structured and in-depth learning opportunities during the summer months. This summer, that vision becomes a reality.
In partnership with Merkos 302’s Kollel Dach and Kollel Aliba D’Hilchisa, the Merkos Chinuch Office is proud to launch Kollel LeMechanchim—a fully developed learning program designed specifically for mechanchim.
“The Rebbe emphasized time and again that summer is an opportunity for both students and teachers to learn and grow, this kollel brings that vision to life,” says Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302. “We’re excited about this collaborative project to empower mechanchim to carry out their important shlichus.”
The program will run from Hei Tammuz through Chof-Ches Av, and offers immersive daily limud in both Halacha and Chassidus, with shiurim from world-renowned magidei shiurim and leading experts in hilchos ribbis.
“This kollel gives mechanchim a much-needed opportunity to grow in their own limud before going back into the classroom,” said Rabbi Nochum Kaplan, Director of the Merkos Chinuch Office.
The halacha portion will focus on hilchos ribbis, studied b’iyun. The limud will begin with the relevant gemara, then continue through Shulchan Aruch and Nosei Keilim, with a strong emphasis on practical, real-world application. Shiurim will be delivered by Rabbi Pinchas Vind, Rabbi Menachem Rosenberg, and Rabbi Yaakov Goldstein, all noted authorities on the topic.
“This is exactly what mechanchim have been asking for,” said Rabbi Zalman Loewenthal, Co-Director of the Merkos Chinuch Office. “A program tailored to their schedule, their growth, and their critical mission.”
The chassidus component will delve into the sugya of Melech Basadeh. This in-depth limud will explore both the haskalah and avodah, and will be enriched with farbrengens focused on integrating these ideas into daily life. Shiurim will be given by world-renowned mashpi’im, Rabbi Osher Farkash and Rabbi Yosef Klyne.
A bonus weekly shiur on tefillah will be presented by Dayan Levi Raskin, Rabbi Farkash, and Rabbi Klyne, offering insights into the halachic, minhag, and penimiyus dimensions of davening.
Participants will receive printed source booklets delivered to their homes and enjoy full access to both live and recorded shiurim.
Rabbi Mendel Sasonkin will serve as menahel po’el, overseeing scheduling, chavrusa placement, and the day-to-day flow of the program.
“This program is designed with the Mechanech in mind, giving him a summer of clarity and focus,” said Rabbi Betzalel Bassman, Menahel of Kollel LeMechanchim.
“It’s the kind of learning that prepares mechanchim for the year ahead—both practically and spiritually,” added Rabbi Mendel Chaitan of Beis Medrash L’Shluchim at Merk.
This program is designed to give mechanchim a summer of clarity, structure, and renewal—preparing them for the year ahead, both practically and spiritually. After a summer of serious limud and rejuvenation, mechanchim will return to the classroom empowered, inspired, and ready to lead.
