On the Moscow River: Recognition for Donors and Volunteers
In the presence of the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar Shlita, a special event was held to express appreciation and gratitude to the layleaders of the large Jewish community in Moscow, who stand behind the many projects and events of the Central “Marina Roshcha” Shul and have taken upon themselves to support the various initiatives operated by the management and the Gabbaim, as well as the daily operation of the shul, which is a pillar of strength for all the Jews of Moscow in particular and the Jews of Russia in general.
The event was held the week before Pesach on a luxury ship donated by a friend of the community for the event. For two hours the participants were able to enjoy the spectacular views of the city skyline, as reflected in the Moscow River that runs through the capital, while enjoying a rich and well-planned program, produced entirely by the team of Gabbaim, who are on duty day and night, for the benefit of hundreds and thousands Jews who frequent the Shul regularly or as guests.
The Chief Rabbi and Mara De’Asra of the great Shul expressed his gratitude to all who are involved in this holy work and called for expansion and further growth, to add more seating places and further develop the Torah and Chassidus lectures.
After the Chief Rabbi distributed certificates of appreciation and prestigious Pesach Haggadas to the donors, volunteers from the community were invited one by one to receive a gift of appreciation. There are many avrechim who donate their time for the benefit of others and are regularly available to give various classes, Torah lessons, running activities with youth and children, hosting guests, and a wide variety of other projects, the help of which is felt throughout the year and especially on the many Jewish holidays.
This honorable event was incorporated into the Sheva Brachot meal on the occasion of the wedding of the daughter of the community director, Rabbi Mordechai Weisberg, one of the founders of the shul who has been devoted to it day and night since its founding, while it was still in its old building, and all this, alongside the management of the entire community with great talent and loyalty, under the leadership of the Chief Rabbi of Russia.
This Sheva Brachos party followed a magnificent Sheva Brachos dinner, which was held at the Shaarei Tzedek Jewish Chesed Center, in recognition and appreciation of Rabbi Weisberg’s work and commitment to chessed and charitable causes in Moscow. The groom’s father, Rabbi Ido Yitzhak Weber of Jerusalem, participated in the party, while the groom’s brother, the greatly talented writer Rabbi Aryeh Erlich- Weber gave the keynote address.
