Gamified Matzah Baking Initiative Brings Pesach Experience To 300 Communities Worldwide

In the days leading up to Pesach, over 300 communities hosted the Great Matzah Bake-Off, a global event powered by CKids International at Merkos 302, uniting more than 9,000 children around the world in a hands-on, meaningful pre-Pesach experience.

The program offered a fresh and exciting twist on the classic matzah bakery. Filled with competition, energy, and hands-on learning, the Bake-Off brought families together for a high-impact, interactive experience. Children were split into teams and raced against the 18-minute clock to mix, knead, and shape the “perfect matzah,” all while discovering the meaning behind this central mitzvah of Pesach. After baking, each matzah was judged—and one team proudly earned the title of Ultimate Matzah Masters.

“The Rebbe taught us that every child has within them a spark of leadership—and that when you give them the tools and the message, they’ll carry it further than we ever imagined,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky of CKids International. “You can see it in their eyes—they’re learning, they’re engaged, and already thinking about who they’ll share their matzah with and how they’ll proudly explain its meaning. In a time when so much attention is on combating hate, it’s just as vital to empower our youth with a deep love for their heritage.”

The event strongly emphasized Mivtza Matzah, highlighting the importance of eating shmurah matzah on the first two nights of Pesach. Through storytelling, visuals, and hands-on instruction, children learned not just how matzah is made—but why it matters. They came away with a deeper appreciation for this special mitzvah and were inspired to bring the message home to their families and friends.

Shluchim across the world praised the program not only for its engagement but for its practicality during one of the busiest seasons of the year. “As Pesach approaches, time is limited and demands are high,” shared one shliach. “This was a high-quality, meaningful, and easy-to-run program that delivered big impact with minimal prep. Children left with smiles on their faces and parents left extremely impressed”

To bring the event to the next level, CKids provided beautifully branded supplies—including rolling pins, hats, aprons, and Afikomen bags—along with eye-catching banners and a professionally produced video that was played throughout the competition. These elevated touches added a polished, unified feel and helped create a memorable and immersive atmosphere that both kids and parents loved.

“This was more than just an activity—it was an immersive journey into the spirit of Passover,” said Harriet Goldbfarb a mother from Long Island. “It brought together learning, tradition, and fun in a way my kids, and I, truly connected with.”
