Nyet, Nyet, Nikavo – The Full Song and Its History

by CrownHeights.info

“Nyet, Nyet, Nikavo”, sung by the Rebbe and passed down through the generations of Chabad Chasidim is one of the more famous niggunim of Chabad. Yet not only do few know the full story of the niggun, they only know half of the lyrics.

Let’s learn the Niggun properly.

Below is a recording from Rabbi Michoel Seligson explaining the history and origin of the niggun.

While most people understandably begin the niggun at the words “Nyet, Nyet Nikavo”, as it was many times sung by the Rebbe, the niggun actually has a first stanza that few who do not speak Russian tend to sing.

Listen to the complete niggun from Nichoach Volume 10.

Watch the niggun as it is sung by the Rebbe beginning at the second stanza.
