Celebrating a Siyum on Parshas Berashis with Fathers and Sons

On Sunday, Chof Gimmel Adar, the fathers of Rabbi Menkes’ Kita Aleph class at YTTL – Montreal joined their sons for a special celebration in honor of their Siyum on Parshas Berashis.

The students proudly demonstrated their mastery of Perek Aleph, reviewing the entire Perek inside the Chumash. This was followed by a collaborative worksheet activity, where fathers and sons worked together to complete a comprehensive review of the Chumash learned throughout the year. This hands-on activity allowed fathers to see firsthand their sons’ knowledge and understanding of the material, and to assist them in reinforcing their learning. The fathers were impressed by their sons’ abilities and were delighted to be a part of their educational experience.

This was followed by a heartfelt rendition of the niggun   פארט א אידעלעsung together by fathers and sons.

Next, the fathers and sons participated in an interactive Chumash Jeopardy game, played together on the board. The excitement was palpable testing their knowledge of the Chumash and learning from each other in a fun and engaging way.

The day culminated in a delicious pizza lunch, generously sponsored by several parents. Sharing lunch together, the fathers and sons enjoyed each other’s company, discussing their experiences and creating lasting memories.

Thank you to the Minkowitz and Weiss families for sponsoring the pizza lunch. We appreciate your generosity!

Here is what some fathers had to say:

Celebrating the siyum of parshas bereishis with my son gave me tremendous nachas. It was amazing to see the entire class reviewing the Chumash inside word for word with translation. A big yasher koach to Rabbi menkes for learning with the boys to reach this tremendous milestone and for arranging a beautiful siyum event for the fathers to come and share in the nachas. In the words of my son Ari “this was the best school day of the whole year” – R’  Yossi Saks

Like a shabbos amidst a mundane week, like being transposed back to a more wholesome and pure time. Coming to Yeshiva was this and more. The varmkeit and chayus for our holy Torah was palpably felt. The talmidim knew the Chumash so well and the decorum was so impressive. Thank you Rabbi Menkes and Yeshiva TTL for everything you do! It was a beautiful morning! – Rabbi Yitzchok Ezaqui

“It gave each of the fathers nachas to see our sons’ individual efforts, and we got to share the collective nachas to see them learning as one big group. Yashar koach to Rabbi Menkes and to each and every one of the boys. Me’chayil le’choyil!” – R’ Adam Spiro

Today’s event will definitely stay with me and my son for a long time! What a wonderful and special idea, to have  over an hour to spend with my son in his regular classroom setting!

Just the time spent together was worthwhile in so many ways. But you made it so much more special with the learning together and the learning activities! What a great way to celebrate!

The lunch was a great plus and gave me a chance to speak with other fathers who were also just amazed at the simplicity and yet the beauty of such an event!

Thank you so much for putting this together and all the time and effort you put into making lasting positive memories for my son and his class! It was also great to see you in action! – Rabbi Mendy Bressinger

It was so special to spend the morning focused on my son’s achievements in Rabbi Menkes’s classroom. The bekius and excitement in their learning is a true testament to our Yeshiva and our Rebbeim. They are clearly very engaged in boosting our kids up to succeed and reach levels in learning far beyond what I ever expected or imagined. – R’ Lavi Klein
