Mazal Tov! New Chabad Emissaries to Dominican Republic

chabad.org

The North Coast of the Dominican Republic, with its stunning beaches and vibrant culture, is about to welcome a thriving center of Jewish life.

Since Rabbi Shimon and Michal Pelman arrived in the Dominican Republic in 2008, they have worked tirelessly to establish Chabad as a vibrant hub for Jewish life. Over the years, their dedication has helped Jewish life on the island flourish, creating a warm and welcoming community for locals and visitors alike.

Now, they will be joined by Rabbi Daniel and Esther Silco and their young children, who will serve the areas of:

  • Sosúa—a town founded by Holocaust survivors, now seeing a revival of its unique Jewish heritage
  • Cabarete—a vibrant hub for a growing diverse Jewish community, including many Israelis
  • Puerto Plata—whose cruise port draws hundreds of Jewish tourists annually,

In preparation for their move, the Silcos have already spent several holidays on the North Coast, inviting the local Jewish community to join them for Purim and Sukkot celebrations.

Chabad of the North Coast will be a welcoming center for locals, expats, and visitors to connect, celebrate, and experience Judaism. With kosher food, inspiring Shabbat and holiday celebrations, and programs for all ages, the Silcos will offer meaningful experiences and create a vibrant beacon of Jewish life.

Let’s give Rabbi Daniel, Esther, and their children a warm welcome, and help them connect with Jews in the Dominican.
